That's pretty clever Etta. Now, to be clear, I was asking for an explanation of how you could have possibly thought that post was correct.

The "rich" pay a larger percentage of taxes because they have more income.

But it doesn't make any sense. Like someone else posted the person with $1 shouldn't be buying mcdonalds he should be buying ramen noodles. It's called living within your means. The higher earners always put more in the pot than lower earners. It's not anyone's fault nor responsiblity for somone who has meager accomidations. Everyone has a right to the pursuit of happiness. Not the right of happiness it's self. If someone took out a bunch of loans and had a bunch of kids but only makes 30K a year why is it somone else's responsibility to take care of another's lack of planning?

I'm going to assume that you agree that is the way things should be. Why is that fair in a Capitalistic society like ours?

How is that fair?

This represents my views on the matter very well Etta. You've probably guessed that by now from previous discussions.

Why are you assuming that these people are taking out a bunch of loans and having a bunch of kids and expecting other people to pay for them? There are quite a few military families that are on public assistance. Were you aware of that? They are low wage earners having kids. Does that bother you?

You're another one. What makes you think that all poor people are living beyond their means?

One's lifestyle (especially children) dosen't bother me, it's when they demand or expect to be given the same as another. I've always been of the oppinion that military are underpaid as it is. So you used the wrong example because they should be getting more and that I don't mind. I'm talking about joe blow the oil change guy or whom ever you choose to replace.

EDIT: Infact the majority of Social funds should be redirected to Military and Vetrens.

I'm another one?! HoHooo..K! What, exactly, am I another one of? Capitalist? Absolutely and unashamedly. What else ya got?

I don't recall making the assertion that all poor people are living beyond their means. Did I? I was looking at the general system and making my feelings known accordingly.
