Since we're so keen on spreading democracy

Why don't we go and invade Zimbabwe?
Exclusive: Mugabe prepares for war - Africa, World - The Independent

He's about to ignore the election results and possible go to war to remain in power. This goes against the very principles of democracy. So why is it that we give a sh!t about democracy in Iraq and no where else?

I would prefer that we keep on letting
them destroy each other. Survival of
the fittest. Less mouths for us to feed.

Do they have anything we can use?

That comment is really quite insenstive, Ed. Not something I would expect from you. And, ARE we feeding them?

Etta, I did not know that you were
quite so sensitive!

Frankly, I have grown to be quite
calloused when it comes to spending
tax dollars paid by the citizens of the
US of A for upkeep of other countries.

It is my opinion that if we keep our
paws out of other countries business
and take care of our own, we would
not be in the deep doo that we are
presently wading in. This country as
we know, was founded upon the precepts
of 'freedom and the right(s) to do as we
please'. It doesn't mean that we have
to cram it down everybody elses throat
for them to have a taste also. Let them
spoon feed themseleves if they want a
taste.

If private entities want to burden
themselves with feeding and caring
for 3rd/4th world countries, then let
them do it, but not with US tax dollars.

Etta, I believe that there are just too
many do gooders in this country that do
not have enough to do! Just let them
look around and take care of home first.
This includes the da*n politicians also.

The real problem; there are just too many
educated people who are educated beyond
their intellegence.

Often the problem with many of these countries in Africa is that after European colonialism they tried to become independent and enact reforms, which didn't work out right. They borrowed money from the IMF in order to finance public works, healthcare, etc., but the conditions laid down by the IMF in exchange for the loans were harsh and most often make things worse.

Let's not forget the dictatorial and tyrannical rule that most of them live under. Let's not forget the institutional corruption. The religious and ethnic hatred that dates back eon's.
We cannot be the arbiter of this, and the UN is incapable.
