you're a little late to the game... nobody forgot - that's how we knew he had WMD. And everyone (most everyone) understands that back then SH wasn't known to be as evil or anti-american as he was he hadn't gassed his own people or tried to corner the world oil supply. He was the "enemy of our enemy" and we sought to oppose our enemy at that time (and now.)

Or threatened to sell oil in any currency someone could bring to the table.

He did it in March of 88 the first time, right at the end of reagan's term in office.

And that's about when we quit supplying him with weapons and started changing policy towrd him, though it took couple of years....

Reagan was in office in March of 1988. George H.W. Bush didn't become president until January of 1989. Plus, the U.S. was most chummy with Iraq during the time that they were using mustard gas on the Iranians.
