PBS documentary: Bush's War

I literally just got done watching this PBS documentary entitled Bush's War. It is a must see regardless of your take on the situation as it is today in Iraq. It is very, very well done, balanced, and is composed of interviews of all the major players from pre 9/11 to early April 2003. You can watch it online if you have the time.

There is political intrigue, back stabbing, coercion, out and out lying, arrogant and forceful personalities, intimidation, good men who shrunk in the face of adversity and intimidation, incompetence, indecision, and deceit.

Take the time to watch this documentary. FRONTLINE: bush's war: introduction | PBS

"Now, on the fifth anniversary of the Iraq invasion, the full saga unfolds in the two-part FRONTLINE special Bush's War. Veteran FRONTLINE producer Michael Kirk draws on one of the richest archives in broadcast journalism -- more than 40 FRONTLINE reports on Iraq and the war on terror. Combined with fresh reporting and new interviews, Bush's War will be the definitive documentary analysis of one of the most challenging periods in the nation's history.
"Parts of this history have been told before," Kirk says. "But no one has laid out the entire narrative to reveal in one epic story the scope and detail of how this war began and how it has been fought, both on the ground and deep inside the government."

Sounds like Watergate!

Seriously, sounds interesting. I'll try and find it. Thanks for the heads-up.

Peace,
D.

Sounds like government to me!

Only in America do we use the word "politics" so aptly to describe the phenomenon : Poly - Meaning many and Ticks - Meaning small, illness inducing, blood sucking creatures.

I taped it and we will be watching it this weekend. My wife wanted to see it, things like that just raise my blood pressure. I get angry when I am forced to face the fact that we have been dragged through a many-trillion dollar war that has harmed us so much (and we will be paying for that for many years to come).

BTW: the Bushniks will dismiss it as Liberal propoganda since it was done by a PBS source.

Wait until the part where Cheney, Wolfowitz, and Libby decide that all the intelligence agencies aren't giving them info they think is out there. So they set up their own little intelligence gathering office, don't tell anyone in the intelligence community about it, and essentially start connecting dots that just can't be connected. And the people in the office ... not intelligence personnel but dime o dozen beauracrats. Then they start taking info that is dubious at best and putting into speeches and people like Colin Powell are left out blowing in the wind.

Scooter Libby may or may not have been hosed on the perjury charges he eventually faced on another issue but after seeing what he was a part of in terms of cooked intelligence and telling intelligence people what they should be saying ..... I just hope his cell mate is amorous in the worst possible way.

Condi Rice and Tenet turned out to be pawns and worse had no back bones to stand up and say "no, this info you are hearing Mr President can't be corroborated." There certainly would've been some turmoil and gnashing of teeth in the upper echelons of government but had they stepped up and looked adversity in the eye and put their foot down perhaps Iraq could've been re-evaluated with a keener eye for details.

That just it .... if they go in with that attitude then yes you will be correct in your assumption. I thought it was very well done and I thought it was well balanced. Some assumptions I've carried with me had to be re-evaluated. Other info came out that made me want to throw a brick through my TV. It's always tough to come to grips with info that could turn your take on the world on it's ear.
