A country dominated by one political party

I've noticed that there are a few members here who are obviously die hard conservative types. I know this because they often cause my patented bovine scatometer to peg quite frequently. At any rate ... would you be happy if the Congress was completely Republican, the SCOTUS was as conservative as it could get, and the POTUS was a conservative?

Noooo way. We've already seen what happens when one party wins the power trifecta, never mind SCOTUS added to the mix. I don't want to see one party rule ever again, either or any party. It costs too much in money, personal freedoms and peace of mind. We need a balance IMO.

I agree 100% but I am interested in what Rizzo, Judge, and NewXD40fun have to say on the topic.

I'd be happy if they just read the constitution, and abide by it.

That sounds like a pipe dream in this day and age. But yea, it would be nice, and nicer still, if they understood it!!!

Everyone has a different opinion of "conservative". Just like everyone has a different opinion of what it is to be "liberal" And I'm sure everyone would be happy if ALL of congress, SCOTUS, and POTUS held 100% of their own political views. Unfortunately, that just ain't gonna happen.

In short, of course thats what conservatives (and everyone thats politically active) wants. If it wasn't they wouldn't vote.

Let me be more specific about my original premise: for the sake of this discussion would those members that frequent this forum who seem to be Republicans really want our government and country run only by Republicans and/or the conservative ideology?

As to the comment in the quote above about being happy if only those in government were "on my side of the aisle" I can say defintely no. Perhaps our plural style of government seems only to support mediocrity right now and that the addition of other parties would help to spur a sense of need to work for the common good ... I don't know. But since we tend to be just a two part country right now I can say without hesitation or reservation that this country needs balance between the parties. As XDConvert9mm said above, "I don't want to see one party rule ever again, either or any party. It costs too much in money, personal freedoms and peace of mind. We need a balance IMO."

Again, it appears that those who have responded thus far would generally hold this belief. I am curious though, what those members who seem to be staunch Republicans/conservatives would have to say about the premise of just their party being in control of the government.

As I have read many of the political threads over the past 6 months or so there seems to be a certain core of members who seem to be quite happy with the government over the last 8 years with few exceptions. What say you to the question?

I guess that excludes me.
