Planned Parenthood Sponsored Genocide

Let me first off say that I don't support abortion for any reason. Even more so is my opposition for government funding of groups such as Planned Parenthood that perform abortions.

However, all of that is somewhat minor considering the reality of the situation. Now, you may all know that I work in the non-profit sector so I completely understand the rationale here, but I find it completely sickening that they sell a "women in need" fund that is used for abortions of "minorities."

In fact, I'd say what this Director of Development is doing is not only morally reprehensible but ethically problematic to say the least.

But enough of my rantings... on with the story, and the audio, and so on.

Response to caller 'a serious mistake,' says Planned Parenthood of Idaho

They also criticized The Advocate for trying to discredit employees with recorded phone calls

BY SANDRA FORESTER - sforester@idahostatesman.com
Edition Date: 02/28/08

Planned Parenthood of Idaho officials apologized Wednesday for what they called an employee's "serious mistake" in encouraging a donation aimed at aborting black babies.

They also criticized The Advocate, a right-to-life student magazine at the University of California-Los Angeles, for trying to discredit Planned Parenthood employees in seven states in a series of tape-recorded phone calls last summer.

The call to Idaho came in July to Autumn Kersey, vice president of development and marketing for Planned Parenthood of Idaho.

On the recording provided by The Advocate, an actor portraying a donor said he wanted his money used to eliminate black unborn children because "the less black kids out there the better."

Kersey laughed nervously and said: "Understandable, understandable. ... Excuse my hesitation, this is the first time I've had a donor call and make this kind of request, so I'm excited and want to make sure I don't leave anything out."

On Tuesday, The Advocate released transcripts and audio recordings of this phone call and another to fundraising representatives in Ohio.
The student editor-in-chief of The Advocate said she's not surprised by Planned Parenthood's response and that the unedited recordings speak for themselves. The activist students think Planned Parenthood targets minorities and minority neighborhoods.

On Wednesday, Planned Parenthood of Idaho "firmly and unequivocally" denounced racial bias, admitted making a mistake and said the group had taken corrective action.

"A fundraising employee violated the organization's principles and practices when she appeared to be willing to accept a racially motivated donation," said CEO Rebecca Poedy in a written statement. "We apologize for the manner in which this offensive call was handled. We take full responsibility for the actions of the fundraising staff member who created the impression that racism of any form would be tolerated at Planned Parenthood. We took swift action to ensure that each of our employees understands their responsibility to communicate clearly with donors about the fact that we believe in helping all individuals, regardless of gender, race, or sexual orientation, make informed decisions about their reproductive health care."

A spokeswoman for the organization would not say whether further disciplinary action was taken against Kersey, saying that was a personnel matter.

A longtime anti-abortion activist and conservative lobbyist - Idaho Values Alliance Executive Director Bryan Fischer - called Kersey's response in July reprehensible and said she should have been fired.

"It turns out that blatant racism is alive and well in Idaho, but it's not coming from the Aryan Nation types - it's coming from way-left organizations like Idaho's own Planned Parenthood," Fischer said.

"They should have stridently rebuked that donor for being a racist and a bigot and refused to take that money."

The national Planned Parenthood office did not return phone calls Wednesday, but local officials denounced the editor of The Advocate as "a known anti-choice extremist."

"While the actions of our staff member were unacceptable, it's also unacceptable for opponents of abortion to use racist, deceptive tactics to smear Planned Parenthood," Poedy said. "The race-baiting tactics on display in this case are not news 'exposes,' but rather the product of the most cynical form of politicking."

Lila Rose, the UCLA student who led the Planned Parenthood investigation as The Advocate's editor-in-chief, said it is sad that the organization would focus on what the students did.

"They do not change their ways," Rose said. "They attack the whistleblower."

Nationwide, Planned Parenthood received about $902 million in revenue in 2005-06, according to its annual report. Private donations made up about 24 percent, or $212 million.

"It is unacceptable for a nonprofit to accept donations that target specific races," Rose said.

The Advocate is waiting for responses from Idaho and Ohio before releasing recordings from Planned Parenthood organizations in several other states, she said. In the meantime, the magazine is calling for UCLA to cut its ties with Planned Parenthood.

It is legal in Idaho for someone who makes a phone call to secretly tape it.

Seven-State Investigation Organized By UCLA Students Shows Evidence of Racism at Planned Parenthood
Contact: Lila Rose, The Advocate, 408-497-3982

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 27 /Christian Newswire/ -- A student magazine at UCLA, The Advocate, released phone recordings of Planned Parenthood staffers approving a donor's racist agenda, prompting students to begin a petition to request that UCLA administrators cut programs and affiliations with Planned Parenthood. The magazine conducted a seven-state probe to ascertain how Planned Parenthood development centers would respond to a caller who expressed explicitly racist motives behind his donation.

An actor, posing as a racist donor, called Planned Parenthood development centers and asked that his donation be used to abort African American babies in order to "lower the number of black people." Each branch agreed to process the racially earmarked donation, with some encouraging the racist motive behind it. None expressed concern about the racist reasoning for the donation.

When the actor stated in a phone conversation with an Idaho Planned Parenthood that "the less black kids out there the better," Director of Development Autumn Kersey called his position "understandable" and indicated she was excited to process his donation. An Ohio representative, Lisa Hutton, tells the donor, when informed of his racist agenda, that Planned Parenthood "will accept the money for whatever reason."

UCLA senior Jose Manaiza called upon fellow African American students and the entire UCLA student body to "commit to this new era of the Civil Rights Movement and fight any type of racism from Planned Parenthood." Manaiza, a 2007 nominee for the UCLA Student of The Year award and winner of the 2007 UCLA Chancellor's Service Award, believes that targeting blacks for abortion violates the civil rights fought for by his hero, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

A student campaign, led by Lila Rose, sophomore at UCLA and Editor-in-chief of The Advocate, has begun petitioning UCLA to end ties with Planned Parenthood. Dr. Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King, says she supports "the student campaign to get UCLA to cease its programs with Planned Parenthood."

As part of their campaign, students have entered into discussions with UCLA administrators regarding the university's relations with Planned Parenthood. So far, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Janina Montero has declined to comment on The Advocate's investigation or the student campaign.

Rose, whose previous work through The Advocate has been featured on The O'Reilly Factor and national radio, says she is hopeful that regardless of their position on abortion, students can stand together to combat Planned Parenthood's racism, both past and present.

Planned Parenthood was wrong to encourage a donation from a blatantly racist source.

I also think it's wrong for anti-abortion forces to use "racism" as a ploy to further their cause, when that is not really their concern.

YouTube - Autumn's Response: PP Racism Extended Version

I have heard of the ethical & racial implications and the possibility that all things are not on the up-and-up when it comes to these types of things.

All I know for sure is that I do not view this as something that requires Fed level intervention.

What we do not need is affirmitive action style abortion legislation.

Then again, what a story that would be.
We're sorry the quota has been met for your particular race.
Heck, that would be justification for a Hollywood style movie of the week

I was just pulling this off drudge to post here....

This isn't the first time that people have either called or gone to planned parenthood and recorded the conversation. They have been caught a few times saying/doing enethical things.

I remember one instance recently where a planned parenthood employee urged a young girl (who was posing as someone who wanted an abortion) to lie about her age in order to circumvent the abortion laws in her state and get an abortion.

The story you posted is a case of this employee not only making a racist remark, but not caring at all what the reasons given for the donation as long as they get it.

Abortion is a abhorrent act and Roe v. Wade has added insult to injury by "legalizing" the practice by violating the 10th Amendment of the constitution. States' power has been completely circumvented.

The destroying of human life is terrible in itself, but when racism is also involved it becomes even more shameful.

How is it "not their concern"?

They're an anti-abortion group, not an anti-racism group. It seems like they are trying to inflame people into being anti-abortion because of their race.

I think they are pointing out a god-awful thing that someone did.

Nothing wrong with that. If they are using it as a reason to get people to oppose abortion and planned parenthood.....well....it's a good reason!

The ends justifies the means? Sometimes. I happen to be pro-choice in some cases and think that overall Planned Parenthood provides a needed service. They also provide low-cost birth control.

This has nothing to do with the ends justifying the means. It has to do with a prime example of planned parenthood engaging in unethical behavior, while commiting crimes against the unborn.

I am opposed to abortion except for in cases of rape, incest, and in situations where the health of the mother is at risk.

Please explain what in what cases you are pro-choice.

Abortion in the first trimester should be a matter between a woman and her doctor. After that, I believe in more restrictions along the lines of what you mention above.
