Interesting....I live in Boca Raton, Florida...part of Palm Beach County, home of the infamous 2000 recount.

Seems like the entire county is overwhelmingly Democrat. Yet somehow Bush...and far more unlikely; Buchanan, got a lot of votes. Buchanan himself laughed and said there was no way he got the 3000 or so votes recorded in his column in one retirement community. The butterfly ballot was a joke. Short people could not see who they voted for. In fact I'm over 6 feet tall and had to double check because i was not sure that I did not accidentally vote for Buchanan myself. The "punch" holes were not lined up with the candidate's names. The angle for shorter people exaggerated this effect.

What a travesty...so many incorrect votes, and worse....so many ballots just thrown away because of the "hanging chads".

I met Bush Sr. at a fundraiser the following March. He did a speech and spent probably a good 10 minutes doing a stand-up comedy routine about the Palm Beach ballots. I never gave any thought to the fact that ex-presidents would have speechwriters on staff, but obviously they must. He was really very funny. Great material. Certainly written by a pro.

Then again, I have a hard time believing that no one in about a 10 block radius of me voted.

I dont think its about voting, but rather financial contributions to campaigns.
