I like "global warming"!
Warmer temperatures mean less usage of oil/gas in our homes. Less usage of oil means less demand for oil. Less demand for oil means lower oil prices. Lower oil prices means less money goes to terrorists. Less money for terrorists could mean fewer terrorist attacks and decreased terrorist activity. Less acts of terrorism mean more happiness! Less oil usage in our homes also means lower oil prices. Less money spent on oil and lower oil prices mean more disposable income. More disposable income means we have more money to spend on goods and services. More money spent on goods and services means more money will be put into our economy. More money put into our economy means that our economy will grow. A growing economy means more jobs and fewer layoffs! More jobs and fewer layoffs mean more happiness! Warmer temperatures also mean we will have longer growing seasons. Longer growing seasons means we will be able to grow more food. More food means lower food prices. Lower food prices mean even more money can be spent on goods/services. More food and lower food prices means less starvation. Less starvation means more happiness! Let's take a look at cooler temperatures. Colder temperatures mean more oil/gas usage in our homes. More oil/gas usage means more demand for oil. More demand for oil means oil prices go up. Oil prices going up means more money goes to terrorists. More money for terrorists can mean more terrorist attacks/increased terrorist activity. More terrorist attacks do not mean more happiness! More oil usage means that we are paying more for oil. More money spent on oil means less disposable income. Less disposable income means we will spend less money on goods and services. Less money spent on goods and services means less money goes into our economy. Less money put into the economy means our economy could slow down. A slowing economy means fewer jobs and more layoffs. Fewer jobs and more layoffs do NOT lead to happiness! Colder temperatures also mean shorter growing seasons. Shorter growing seasons means we grow less food. Less food grown means that food prices will go up. Less food and higher food prices mean that there will be more starvation and even less money to spend on goods/services. More starvation does not mean more happiness! As you can see, warmer temperatures are great--far better than colder temperatures! Now you can see why Frank Rizzo likes global warming!!!! Yeah, I think that the warming will be OK in my lifetime. Who knows, maybe Pakistan and India will lob a few nukes at each other and that will put enough debris in the atmosphere to cool the planet down some.
But, imho, the more we buy from China, the more money they will have to modernize their infrastructure. (India too, of course). (Regarding oil) Then China & India will be consuming the oil we are cutting back on. I don't see demand going down at all. I don't see prices going down much. I think prices go up until there is resistance, then go down a bit (but not back to where it was) until we get used to it, then it goes up again. Repeat the cycle. Ah well, what can ya do?

I agree with you on the oil not being a steady commodity, where if America or even all of North America slows our consumption, then we magically save the world all by ourselves. I recently saw that if we are to focus on auto pollution to even make a measurable change, 80% of the worlds drivers would have to stop driving. This alone wouldn’t save the world; this is the very beginning of a measurable improvement. People are not willing to do that. People in America aren’t even willing to drive European or Japanese mini cars, or we would have had then here for the last 30 something years and they would be a huge market segment. They are almost all publicly traded; anyone who dares to complain about oil and big oil makes to much money should obviously run right out and purchase stock in said companies and get on the gravy train. Also people who think big oil makes to much money and refuses to buy stock and wants to still complain, should call their insurance company and cancel, since they all invest in oil, and they should do with out a pension in their old age since they wouldn’t want that blood money on their hands from the big oil robber barons Of course this would give them less to bitch about when they have their commie friends over for a party or dinner. They want best of both worlds, not just low prices. They want low prices, they want the efficiency of capitalism and reliability to deliver these great goods rapidly and fairly, but they don’t want anyone to make money off it. Of course they don’t work for free themselves, but that is just another inconvenience of their modern liberal commie life style. Last edited by billbrasky; 03-11-2008 at 03:21 PM. |

How about I'd like to see some global warming, this year was one of the longest nastiest winters I can remember. Global warming is a farce created by a bunch of crackpot scientists and politicians dreamed up with the intent of fleecing the tax payer of more of our hard earned money.

I hate global warming because I like colder temperatures, but unfortunatley global warming isn't created by carbon, nuclear bombs or simply just due to the fact of republicans exsisting. It's sorta due to this little scientific thing called comming out of an ice age.
All though this summer I'm hard pressed to remmber more than a day or two (here in Kansas) that temperature was at or over 100. I guess I'll just have to stand out in the yard with a pallet full of areosol cans just so Al Gore can save face.
