(PV) Immigration Reform for Dummies

If this does not convince someone on the fence about immigration reform (both legal and illegal) in the USA...nothing will.

It has noting to do with race or helping others but is an issue of longterm sustainability...

Another condensed, but relevant morsel from Glenn Beck.

I don't have much faith in the fence riders, but perhaps this will help convince them. I am not sure I completely understand the mentality of the pro-immigration crowd anyway so I am not sure what they need to show them that they are wrong. A common sense practical demonstration may or may not be enough to overcome thier emotional tie to a flawed idea.

For me, it makes perfect sense that we just don't have enough for everyone that wants to come here. Therefore we must stop and reverse the current immigration trend.

If we want this country to remain as it is now or ever return to the land we grew up in...the argument needs to be made that unchecked illegal and even some legal immigration...is simply not sustainable.

You have to get everyone past the "racist' and "xenophobia" tags, fingerpointing by LaRaza and the Minutemen and other nonsense and side-taking, but that argument againt the sustainability of the status quo is undeniable!

If you keep giving and get nothing in return you are going to run out of things to give.

Yes, but how do we convince the open borders people, those crying racism and the "they're just here for a better life" types that this is not sustainable?

THAT is the 64 million dollar question!

...and one you can't answer because every one of those types will react differently to any piece of information they get.

...probably like the brits who believe any statistic or obvious fallacy in the gun control movement is simply NRA propaganda and magic tricks!

I bet they don't care about the hit to the U.S. economy takes due to illegals. In 2007 24 BILLION DOLLARS was sent from the United Sates back to Mexico by illegal immigrants. Illegals take and take and take, then send anything left over out of the country.

MEXICO CITY – Remittances to Mexico were down nearly 6 percent in January, the biggest drop in 13 years, which experts attributed to a downturn in the U.S. economy and anti-immigrant policies.
In its report this week, Mexico's central bank, known as the Bank of Mexico, said remittances fell to $1.65 billion in January from $1.76 billion a year earlier, signaling the biggest decline since the bank began recording remittances in 1995. Remittances are the second-biggest source of foreign currency inflows behind oil exports for Mexico, though they comprise just about 3 percent of the country's gross domestic product.
"Fundamentally there are two main reasons for the decline in the last few months," said Raymundo Tenorio Aguilar, economic expert at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education. "One, the migration policies in the United States, and two, a very important one, the few options in Mexico offered to those who receive remittances to turn that money into savings."
Other Mexican officials said the decline is a reflection of the worsening U.S. economy, particularly in the area of construction. The U.S. construction industry accounts for about 20 percent of jobs for Mexicans living in the country, according to the central bank.
The Mexican government has said it expects economic growth to slow to 2.8 percent this year from 3.3 percent in 2007 because of slowing U.S. demand for Mexican exports. Earlier in the week, the Calderon administration announced a $5.6 billion stimulus package to help the economy. Mr. Tenorio remains "a bit of an optimist because I do believe remittances will once again grow." About 12 million people are believed to be in the U.S. illegally – and about 57 percent of those are from Mexico.
In 2007, Mexicans sent home an estimated $24 billion, a 1 percent increase from 2006.

Very Good find JeffXD.
Here in AZ we just enacted law that we voted on and won BTW, to penalize any Employer who knowingly or not hires an Illegal Alien worker.

The rush of IA's out of AZ was alarming to some... I believe we just sounded the alarm..

How are you all going to reconcile your strong opposition to the current U.S. policy (or lack thereof) on illegal immigration with voting for John McCain? Sounds schizophrenic to me.

No, they’re just going to tax “businesses”! So unless you buy something from a “business”, like groceries or clothes or gasoline … or unless you get a paycheck from a big or a small “business”, don’t worry … it’s not going to affect you.
