(PV) Homeland Security proposes delayed Real ID rollout

I guess we will have a nanny/police state nation when all is said and done.
I'm sure glad I live in Arizona.
Quote:
Senate Bill 1152 which says, in plain and easily understandable English that Arizona will not be participating in the REAL ID Act.

Section 1. Title 28, chapter 2, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 28-336, to read:
28-33628-336. REAL ID act; implementation prohibited
This state shall not participate in the implementation of the REAL ID act of 2005. The department shall not implement the REAL ID act of 2005 and shall report to the governor and the legislature any attempt by agencies or agents of the United States DEPARTMENT of homeland security to secure the implementation of the REAL ID act of 2005 through the operations of that department.”

They had Chertoff answering questions on cspan about this the other night.
He said that any state is allowed to opt out, but its residents will not be able to use their license to board planes or enter federal buildings. Not so optional if you ask me. Sounds like plausible deniability at best of making it mandatory.
Papers please!
You can microwave them to disable the slave tracking device.. er i mean rfid chip.

You can use a passport for anything, anytime.
I got mine and did in fact microwave out the RFID.

There was an article in the WSJ about this. IIRC, according to the article the Real ID act was already passed.

Lemme dig up the front page.

When did they start putting those in passports? I've had mine for 4 or 5 years and wasn't aware they had RFIDs in them. Any specs on how long to bake 'em without damaging anything else?

Not needed. Reports confirm that one need only to wrap their passport in a towel (so not to mar the finish) and give it a sharp whack with a hammer.
