This type of thing is never good for the 2nd Amendment.

Edit to add; I know they have a AWB 2 drawn up just waiting for the right impetus to facilitate bringing it to a vote. I hope this isn`t it. Another example where a well armed citizen could have ended the carnage quickly. People need to realize their security and safety is ultimately their own responsibility, not the governments. 29 dead and counting is definitely a big enough event to deal a crippling blow to our rights, especially with the Democrats in charge, and Bush has already said he would sign a AWB if it reached his desk.

My thoughts exactly when I heard it this morning. A few well armed people could have dealt with this. It is no different than Columbine. I wonder how many laws were broken in this one?

As for AWB2, gosh I hope this does not become a leverage point. I'm looking at a Rock River in .223 that just wants me to take it home.

watching this on the news as we speak, what a terrible thing, 32 dead now, just think, if they allowed CCW holders to carry on campus (i'm assuming they dont) there would probably only be 2-3 dead INCLUDING the perp, instead we've got 32 and counting what a shame, i wish people would open their eyes but i'm sure this will go the wrong way, they were just talking about "glocks" and "clips" on the news

The "polls" have already begun.

Its a good thing Virginia law makers "made them safe" at the end of January.

Don't hot link it. Those places can see where the links are coming from and take those votes out.

Very sad day indeed.

That poll is The dumbest thing I have ever seeen.. Well lately anyway.

They should have a choice, that reads "do you think having GUN-FREE school zones can stop this." Freakin idodic!

I just cant get my words around it! I am so pissed and the anti-gun spin that has already surfaced!

ALL I know is the 32 people that lost there lives, not one was legaly able to defend themselves. They are going to say that it is the guns fault. And then NEVER accept the responsibility for legislating laws that restriced there right to protect themselves.

Yes I think this shooting is ground for "GUN CONTROL", Proper grip, a full magazine, and a Dead-on Aim is all they will get from me!

The first time I did the poll it was 2 to 1 that said shootings were isolated. I can't get the results now though. FWIW, there is a member on another board that was a student there that did carry when he went. You still needed a CCW. The law is different now though.

Exactly. Those who deny citizens to defend themselves are just as guilty as those who actually did the act. I hope everybody prays for the victims, and their friends and families. They'll need a lot of support. And lets hope the perp burns in hell, where he belongs.

His performance is surely sub-par, let's see if he'll betray all the gun lovers who voted for him (and all others who didn't) thinking that he'll understand gun rights because of that R by his name.

The worst part is the Virginia legislature shot down HB-1572. (see link above)It would have allowed those with carry permits on campus. I hope those people can sleep at night. Thats something you wont see on the MSM. Look for them to blame everyone BUT the government for restricting their rights. They will blame the police, campus etc. Then clamor for more useless laws. Fact is "gun free school zones" are a complete failure. Any coward with a grudge is certain to find thousands of helpless victims at a school. Its like shooting bowling pins at the range.

Someone had this waiting in their desk, just had to fill in the vague incident details at the beginning to get it ready.

Also this incident itself won't be what "will stir fresh U.S. debate over gun control and what drives people to go on shooting rampages through schools and colleges." The media will be the ones doing that.
