Fallen of war fly home with more dignity

Fallen of war fly home with more dignity

While this article is a week old, it does show how our own government has stretched the financial strings thin enough to break the heart of those who's loved ones have fallen in battle. I remember hearing of this when it first made headlines, but at that time was not a part of this board. The opening line of the article is a clencher of appalling abuse. It IMO shows the corporatist attitude toward those who have given their lives for this country.

Quote:
In an about-face by the U.S. government four years into the war in Iraq, America's fallen troops are being brought back to their families aboard charter jets instead of ordinary commercial flights, and the caskets are being met by honor guards in white gloves instead of baggage handlers with forklifts.
Is it really that important to save a dollar? I am almost beyond words to describe the mentality of those who endorsed this practice.

At least things have changed, but My God, the mentality of some people.
