Article on Gun Control and the Second Amendment

http://www.woonsocketcall.com/site/n...id=24358&rfi=6

I read the article, and he makes several valid points. Most of which have been made on this forum, to my knowledge, before.

all in all, a good article. Check it out.

Good article.

That guy says that he doesn't even like guns but he still understands the true meaning/intent of the 2A.

Thanks for posting that.

Yes, Thank you!!!!!

I like the line " Where does it say that if a well-regulated militia is no longer believed necessary to the security of a free state, then you can forget all about this amendment, ignore it as though it isn’t even there?".

But I most expecially like his approach and use of the Constitution to support the Constitution. The writers were truly brilliant and very thorough in their thought processes.

I also noticed this implication:
Quote:
But for now, if a "right of the people," written directly into the U.S. Constitution, can be easily taken away, as it was by one bad Supreme Court ruling in the Miller case, then all of our rights and liberties dangle precariously by the same slender thread. Will we wake up someday to find out that a 5-4 Supreme Court ruling means that freedom of speech, and freedom of the press, and freedom of religion do not belong to individuals, but to some collective group? (If President Bush gets one more pick on the Supreme Court, don’t bet against it.)

If that day comes, I want the Second Amendment to be in full force and effect. I would want all men and women who take freedom seriously to be able to keep and bear arms so we could join together to fight the depredations of a tyrannical government.
Hmmmmm?

That's odd. Why would he imply that more conservative judges would result in an increased chance that those freedoms will be determined as belonging to a collective group instead of the individual?

It has been liberal judges mostly who have perverted the 2A.

Just look at the dissenting judge in the decision that overturned the DC gun ban.

Great read, I hope more people realize the importance of the amendments and how they linked together. If we undo one we impact the others which is why they were bundled together in the first place.

Let me venture a guess, although it is just a guess. I think he was referring to amendments other than the second amendment.

I understand that.

My question was "why does he think that Bush appointees would be likely to render decisions ruling that rule that certain liberties are collective ones instead of individual ones?".
