I'm guessing that the second part was meant to curb an unauthorized posse from going after the bad guys without the Sheriff.

The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the state shall not be denied

I was just digging around on Packing.org and found my state's constitutional grant for self-defense.

If you've read my posts before you probably already know i love my state.

this is just another reason why.

Most of us are here because we WANT to be! And yes it is a good thing.

Admittedly, you have much better gun laws than we, but it gets so cold there, how do you go outside to shoot. I just checked and it is 15 degrees in Rapid City. Brrr.

Do you guys shoot snowmen all day.

Believe it or not you can get used to the cold after a while. The only time it really sucks is when it gets cold and the wind really blows. Almost nothing worse than a 10 degree day with a 30mph wind (-12 wct) unless its -20 degrees and a 30mph wind (-53 wct). BRRRRR! Ive actually seen it even colder. The record is -58 degrees WITHOUT windchill factored in. The lowest the NWS Wind Chill chart goes is -45 degrees. So if you figure at least a 20mph wind you have -80 to -90 degrees wind chill.

On the other hand you have the record high at 120 degrees. Both those records are from 1936. That makes for a 178 degree temperature change in 5 months! The average temps are much better though. Average high of 86.5 degrees and an average low of 1.9 degrees.

Seriously though, you learn to dress for the weather if you're going to be outside for any length of time. Properly dressed you hardly notice the cold. And you stay inside on the ridiculously cold days.

If I'm reading this right, Illinois' "2nd Amendment" just sucks:

Indiana's is much nicer:
