Gas at $4 a gallon?

Just caught this....

http://abcnews.go.com/Business/story...C-RSSFeeds0312

....over on Drudge, and I'm usually critical of futures traders to a certain extent (a camel farts too loud in Saudi and the price jumps $5 a barrel), but the fiscally prudent side of me sees prices on a variable but inevitably upward trend, and as long as the bulk of our oil comes from volatile middle-eastern markets, I'm going to try to streamline. I'm considering selling my full-size work van in favor of something smaller and more efficient, and I'm looking at buying a motorcycle for short local trips like the 5 mile daily run to my night job. Anybody else planning on buying a different vehicle or changing their transportation habits?

More pedal power, less horsepower.

If I live on campus this summer (it looks like I'm working for Construction Services at my school this summer), it won't be a problem, I can just walk to work. If I live in the same place I did last summer, it's a 5 mile bike ride to campus so I'll pedal it there and back. Sadly, the 11 year old Mercury I drive doesn't get the best gas mileage so I try to drive as little as possible anymore.

I've been riding a bike for years. if you start riding and really get into it and ride a lot then you will break about even money wise after you figure up Gas, Tires (wear out much faster than a car) chains/belts(unless you get a shaft drive bike), brakes, ect. I ride my bike a hell of a lot more (like taking the long way to work or riding on the weekends) than I would drive my Jeep or the wife's car so I break about even.

Now if you ride the bike as much as you drove a car and not more than yeah you would be set.

You only get 30-40MPG out of a freakin' ZUMA?????????!!!!!!!!!

My 1200 Bandit gets about an even 40MPG and my wife's Sv650 gets 50MPG no matter how hard i flog it. I think there may be something wrong with that thing.

Meh, Im not concerned anymore. The bottom line is, we are dependent on foreign oil, and as much as the talking heads care to spout about it, alternative energy isnt going to be here anytime soon. Im sure Exxon will be reporting another record breaking billions in profit this summer too.

I bought a few gallons of race gas this weekend for $6 a gallon though

Our new Camry hybrid gets 35-41 mpg on a regular basis.

I can squeeze 24-25 out of the old Camry V-6 if I'm careful.

Gas was $3.20 per gallon for regular when I filled up today.

It's always cheaper for me. Because I do not buy $4.00 a pack cigarettes, 20 scratch-offs tickets and $1.50 bottled water while I am paying for my gas.

These are the types of people that I see bitch about gas prices.

lol...very true. I get upset if I have to leave the pump and even enter the mini-mart for a receipt, so that's not one of my problems.
