Angry Democrats just as guilty at war profiteering, fineswine this time

Before your liberal friends call it a 'right wing' conspiracy, this investigation was funded by "The nation group", which owns the magazine "The nation".

Feinstein quits committee under war-profiteer cloud
Report documents military contracts for firms owned by senator's husband

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., has abruptly walked away from her responsibilities with the Senate Military Construction Appropriations Subcommittee after a report linked her votes to the financial well-being of her husband's companies, which received billions of dollars worth of military construction contracts she approved.

As reported in Metroactive, an online report from the Silicon Valley, Feinstein's resignation followed six years of subcommittee work during which time her alleged conflict of interest stemmed from her husband Richard C. Blum's ownership of Perini Corp. and URS Corp.

Feinstein, chairman and ranking member of the subcommittee, regularly reviewed and accepted contracts from her husband's companies for not only construction work for military bases, but also addressing "quality of life" issues for the veterans of the United States military services.

"As MILCON leader, Feinstein relished the details of military construction, even micromanaging one project at the level of its sewer design," wrote Peter Byrne in the report. "She regularly took junkets to military bases around the world to inspect construction projects, some of which were contracted to her husband's companies, Perini Corp. and URS Corp."

He suggested perhaps Feinstein resigned "because she could not take the heat generated by metro's expose of her ethics… Or was her work on the subcommittee finished because Blum divested ownership of his military construction and advanced weapons manufacturing firms in late 2005?"

Want to know why congress won't defund the war? Want to know why congress allows an unConstitional war?

Democrats are making money hand over fist just like the republicans over these conflicts.

The entire thing makes me sick. Is there no one* in washington without a major conflict of intrest? Is there anyone not ripping taxpayers off for billions and sacrificing the lives of Americans to line their own greedy pockets?!?!?!?!?

*Excluding Ron Paul of course

Nope, I refuse to believe it. As we all know, the "culture of corruption" applies only to Republicans.

I'm not so synical as to believe our elected officials willingly enter a war to profit from our soldiers dead bodies. I disagree with Bush's straegy, but never in my wildest dreams did I think he did it for personal gain. I do think their judgement is always clouded. I believe that once they make their decision, the feeding frenzy begins. I'm critical of the Right because they are the ones (were) holding the reins. Never in my wildest delusions have I ever believed the Left to have any more morals bones than the Right. They are all jellyfish!

It is truly saddening the gang raping the Republocrat/Democan machine is giving this country. I hate them all equaly.

Strangely quiet from certain forum members. They should be loudly condemning these transactions since they are not party loyalists, but condemning wrong actions, right?

Even if they chime in now, it is too late to look like anything other than a kool-aide drinker. Come on guys, the Rebublicans are a corrupt party! I just prefer their social policies (no developing and fostering of a dependant class) and their general 2A policies. Just admit the Dem leaders are worthless POS and we have common goround. But silent this long...you really like them don't you?!!

Well, there are certainly many ways to view this incident.
One-way would be to choose a political side and glorify/bash but that would lead nowhere.

So, how about looking at the bottom-feeder potential of the individual, while eliminating the party affiliations. With this approach the attacks upon the individual have more meaning and less opposition to the attack will occur. Thus we can look to the motivation that caused this situation to occur within the individual.

So Diane was caught doing what everyone else who is capable and has the desire, has done. Profiting from the situation placed in front of them. Is this good or bad? I guess this still depends on which side of the fence you wish to stand on. Some see this as a vile act and want only the worst, while others see this as a great opportunity. I mean the profits from this action did remain in the United States. Right? So what is wrong with successfully operating a business and profiting from a war? In the Lord of War, that guy made profits off of many conflicts, and always said people buy guns, they might as well be my guns. Then again he was only a portion of a much larger equation. What about the lobbyist whispering softly in someone’s ear and constantly reminding them of all the bad "those people" have done. Shouldn't we take them out? Then once the onslaught ensues, they call their friends and tell them "ramp it up", I've already convinced those who are in control that you can supply what they need.

The lobbyist who propagates information toward the profit potential of war is the true bottom-feeder of society.
They do not care who is at war, as long as someone is. I mean how else are they going to make any real money. Then again we could just say that by being in a position of power and thus control, Diane should not listen to those around her, the influence potential to do right or wrong is to great. Trust no one, or your career will go down the drain. Yea, that always works.

War is business and business is war. The dynamics might change, but those in positions of power will make the decisions that they are influenced to address. If the influence causes someone to generate a profit as a decision is acted upon so be it. The profit will occur.

Thus we are left with one real question.
Did the decision occur because it was deemed the right thing to do, or was the decision made because it was determined to be the most profitable? For most decisions the answer does not have great significance. Yet when the decision involves a loss of life potential, one would hope the power players making choices, have a conscious and the ability to use it. Oh, and the ability to ignore the bottom-feeders within our lobby filled, corporate controlled, have to make a profit regardless of all else society.

I learned early on that the louder someone "picks" on another, the more that screaming person is trying to deflect from their own faults. Same holds true for elected officials. If one goes after another, you can bet that something is about to break.

Any predictions on who will be at the top of the profiteering ladder? I think you are right, the shoving match is about to begin.
