Thumbs up Cable News Race!

CABLE NEWS RACE
LIBBY VERDICT NITE
3/6/07 VIEWERS

FOXNEWS O'REILLY 2,297,000
FNC HANNITY/COLMES 1,701,000
FNC GRETA 1,451,000
FNC BRIT HUME 1,427,000
FNC SHEP SMITH 1,317,000
CNN KING 974,000
CNN COOPER 819,000
CNN DOBBS 797,000
MSNBC OLBERMANN 722,000
CNNHN NANCY GRACE 588,000
MSNBC HARDBALL 563,000
CNN PAULA ZAHN 491,000

Data gathered from Neilsen

It looks like PMSNBC and CNN remain at the bottom of the ratings barrel. It looks like Olberman did get a little bit of a boost (perhaps b/c it was the night after the Libby verdict?), but he still ended up at 4th to last.

I know a lot of people complain about FOX, but there has to be a reason why they dominate the cable news ratings. If you watched/read many lefty news sources, you would be led to think that everyone hates FOX. Sorry, that just isn't so.

Biased or not, they are where the majority of Americas go for their news. I'd say they are a absolute success, regarding content and marketing. They find a way to make all of their shows appealing. If you ever watch O'Reilly read emails that he receives from views, you will see that even people who absolutely HATE him still watch the show. Now how can FOX get people who HATE their shows to still watch them night after night??

Frank

Interesting. I don't like the ones at the very top. But the shows at bottom of the list are where I would expect, although I would think Nancy Grace would the absolute bottom. Out of those, I like to watch Brit Hume and Anderson Cooper. I can't stand O'Reilly.

The thing of it is, your average far-left liberal doesn't view himself as a liberal. In their minds, they're the centrists, so absolutely anything to the right of Cindy Sheehan, Moveon.org, and that Kos thingy is automatically "right-wing". Fox's news shows like O'Rielly probably do lean to the right somewhat, but their actual newscast is quite balanced. We've just been in the grip of a leftist media for so long that when a reasonably balanced newscast finally comes along, the absence of noticeable bias feels like a giant leap to the right. (At least, IMHO ).

+1 on that one Dan. Most people have gotten to the point that if they don't get editorialization in their news the either don't know what to think of the situation or they think that the news is being "altered" by the "vast right-wing conspiracy."

What kills me is the left's claim that the mainstream media is turning to the right.

One friggin' cable station and a couple of AM talk programs and "everythings turning right-wing." Well, thats the claim of Al Franken and many others on the left. They say so all the time.

Are you kidding me? They have CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, Air America and PBS that have leaned left on more than a few occaisions. A virtual monopoly, if you ask me.

Oh, alright, ABC has George Will and John Stossel, but how often are they on air, compared to the others that have admitted to voting Democrat every election? George Will is on Sunday morning for a few minutes and Stossel's is on Friday nights - wow...lots of viewership in those times slots....NOT!

One station appears to be centrist...maybe tilting right with 2-3 anchors (you cannot REALLY call Van Sustren, Colmes or Rivera righties...can you?) and all of a sudden its a right-wing takeover?

As Stossel so often says..."get out the shovel!"

- Brickboy240

PS: I watch/listen to both NPR and Fox (although neither one with any regularity)...you have to see how they both spin it all to make sense of the news of the day.

Fox DOES try to remain 'balanced' though. What better advertisment for conservatism is there than when O'Rielly and Hannity and Colmes get liberals to express their views. I hope Fox news shows the light to enough people before the '08 election.

Yeah you gotta give it to FOX...

Google Rod Majors.....

The Marine corporal Sanchez who posed with all the Republican bigwigs at CPAC....with Coulter and Malkin and FOX gave him major airtime and told him what a great guy he was....FOX!

FOX was fawning all over this $200 an hour gay porn star prostitute. He was a special guest on Hannity and Colmes and the O'Reilly Factor. One of those Hannity and Colmes guys gave him the big Semper fi and grabbed his dicky hand at the end of the show......

CPAC gave him a major award, Coulter and Malkin both love him.

NOBODY THOUGHT TO CHECK THIS GUY OUT WHO SAYS HE LIKES TO BE ON TOP OF HIS MALE CUSTOMERS.

FOX........ whaaaaaaahaaaaaahaaaaaahaaaaaahaaaaaa!

You'd think FOX would do a little better background checks on their "fair and balanced" programs.

I doubt they are reporting this latest embarassment.....are they?

No doubt some of you guys saw this....?

This is hilarious.....and you guys think they are giving you the straight sh*t??????

You guys will believe anything.....

Strange, but I thought the left had no hang-ups about the sexual preferences of anyone. Leftist often bash conservatives for treating gays poorly or calling them out because they're different. The left often says "be more open minded" or "someone's sexual preference should not matter" you know...be more tolerant.

Here you have a group of conservatives NOT recognizing or getting caught up in this guy's sexual preference or making a big deal out of it and to you, THAT is a problem?

Well, you cannot have it both ways (no pun intended). Either you want the gay issue to be front and foremost with the right or you truly wish that it was not a major issue and they looked the other way on homosexuality and went about their business without the homophobia.

Well..which is it?
