Little Sunshine is embarrassed, again. I used to think that he wore fairly restrictive blinders when viewing the political world. But I've found evidence that he has a much more restrictive perspective...

My take on Fitzgerald:

Fitzgerald found out that nobody who he was investigating actually leaked the name of a covert agent. Since he has spent months and MILLIONS of dollars, he didn't want to come up empty-handed. Therefore, he searched and searched for inconsistencies within the testimonies of all the people that were interviewed during the course of the investigation. I mean, he HAD to indict someone, or else all of that money would be wasted and he would look bad! He found some contradictory statements made by Libby and decided that would be his way to have something to show for the months of investigation that found that no crime had been committed.

Even when Richard Armitage came forward and admitted that he was the leaker, there was virtualy zero media buzz and Fitzgerald didn't even care.

bd and the other liberals are just mad that Rove and Cheney weren't indicted. I am sure that they were praying their secular prayers--hell, they were probably praying to the god of government himself--that there would be a huge scandal uncovered that involved multiple members of the Bush adminstration. Sorry....it didn't happen folks!

I don't think it was so much that he got the BJ, ok that may be part of it, but I think it was mainly becuase he perjured himself by lying in front of a judge while under oath.

I don't seem to see anything about a 5 year requirement in Article 2, section 2 of the constitution, which gives the President the power to grant pardons....

Quote:
Section 2. The President shall be commander in chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the militia of the several states, when called into the actual service of the United States; he may require the opinion, in writing, of the principal officer in each of the executive departments, upon any subject relating to the duties of their respective offices, and he shall have power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment.

This from wikipedia:
Quote:
A presidential pardon may be granted at any time after commission of the offense; the pardoned person need not have been convicted or even formally charged with a crime. In the overwhelming majority of cases, however, the Pardon Attorney will consider only petitions from persons who have completed their sentences and, in addition, have demonstrated their ability to lead a responsible and productive life for a significant period after conviction or release from confinement.

I don't think that justice department "guidelines" are law.

Clearly, the President can pardon someone any time he wants.

Correct, specifically, the SUBJECT of an investigation into allegations of sexual harrassment (from a former coworker) lied about sexual relations with a current coworker while under oath. Quite a bit different from the current situation, IMHO.
