So what... you going to wait for them to make the next transition and go from 99 %, up 1% to be a full 100% orwellian?

Honestly I don't see how people stand to live in that state, all the stupid crap that goes on there. I don't care about the women, the beaches, the hollywood lifestyle that people try to fake like they live it. There's no way I'd live there.

jednp, with all due respect, that is not easy to say when most of your family; including my children, grandchildren brother and elderly mother live relatively close. I have one brother in Colorado Springs.

I ignore the Hollyweird stuff, I don't live anywhere near San Francisco, don't really care for the beach since I can get sunburned at home, but family is very important to me.

I told my wife if guns are outlawed in this state, I want to move and surprisingly she said ok even tho she is very close to our kids and especially 5 grandkids (1 daughter and 4 month old grandchild live with us). I hope it doesn't come to that, but I will wait until then (God forbid).

While I would NEVER Move to the *cough* great state of Kalifornia, I wouldn't move out just because of gun laws. The way I see it, I'd rather go down fighting then run with my tail between my legs.

Drugs are illegal and they still make their way into society in large numbers. So what makes these anti-gunners think that if they made firearms illegal then those to won't find their way illegally into this country. Prohibition didn't prevent alcohol. Trying to ban guns is not going to stop the criminals from getting them. It's been proven in the article I posted earlier that if more honest people have guns then that prevents crime. Try telling the mall owners in Utah that the 18yr old gunman must have not read thier "No guns" signs. I just hate ignorance.

TeflonKid, thanks for the characterization of me, "running with my tail between my legs." Much appreciated.

You admit you wouldn't move here and you probably do not know how strong the anti-gun people are in this state. Both houses are controlled by the Democrats, so it wouldn't surprise me if the bills I mentioned will finally pass. They may have failed last year, but I fear eventually they will pass.

Furthermore, when you have the Sheriff of the largest and one of the most respected Sheriff's Dept. in the Country and the Chief of a nationally recognized police dept. both supporting these stupid laws it just adds to the chance they will be passed. I would be surprised if the unions of both depts. support them, but the public really doesn't care what the rank and file think in this regard; they look to the person in charge.

When the large ammo/gun companies refuse to sell here because of these laws, then there really isn't much fighting I will be able to do to change it. So, if my moving elsewhere in order to keep my guns and purchase ammo at a reasonable price is necessary, so be it. It does not mean I'm running away; I'm be realistic and practical.

I would not consider your moving "running away"...not at all.

Hey, if you cannot stand it anymore and you know damn well that your views are not chared by the majority of the folks you live around, you really have no other choice.

My wife got offered a job in CA many years ago, back when I was not happy with my own job. We considered the move and actually flew to Oakland to look around, have her interview and scope out housing and living there.

Well, it was pretty and God knows it was not nearly as scorching in July as Texas, but the cost of housing/insurance/living, the congestion, the politics and the general vibe we got from many people kept us from moving. I would have had to get rid of alot of my guns, register all 4 SKSs, get rid of my gas powered leaf blower and other nonsescial things. We liked the location and weather, but that was not enough to put up with the other nonsense. When you've lived in TX your whole life and are used to the "cowboy" attitude, it was quite a culture shock.

I know damn well that I have lived in TX way too long to be able to handle life on either coast. I could maybe live in WY, UT, NM or OK, but the east or west coasts? Forget it.

Its too bad that such a beautiful part of the country is run by such kooks. It seemed to me that the people with common sense (and I met plenty in CA) were drowned out by the extremists. Thats really sad.

A few years ago I "voted with my feet" and left the land of fruits and nuts.

I now reside in PA. The only problem with PA is it's surrounded by states that are just about as bad as Kalifornia. A LTCF ( ccw permit) is $25 last for 5 years. Shall issue, no test, pass the background test and your in. There is no law against open carry except in you car and Philly. Where you can't carry is a list smaller than the texas list.
