Can't speak for all Dems but I can for PA's

You may have seen the thread PA Assault Weapons Ban.

Let's see... the new House Bill 30 that was referred to the Judiciary on January 30, 2007.
"An Act amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, providing for prohibition and registration of certain assault weapons; and imposing penalties."

This amendment to the criminal code was introduced by:Of all the sponsors of the bill there wasn't one Republican or third party sponsor. Now it could be just as a result of the democratic majority in the state, but the Republicans never tried to pass this kind of far reaching amendment.

It even requires annual background checks and registration for grandfathered Assault weapons which would include magazines that hold more than 10 rounds; barrel compensators which are even legal in California ; and pump action rifles that have detachable magazines.

Partially, I think it's a blatant attempt to appease the extreme-left gun grabbers, but there's been a big push (at least in the SE/Philly area) for further gun restrictions. I guess this is just their first attempt after the election.

Someone convince me that Democrats aren't all that bad.

I think it would take them forever to get all of the weapons that they say fall into the assault weapon category registered. And i thought gun registration was unconstitutional.

Hence the section that says, the Pennsylvania State Police can charge fees for their incurred costs. It could cost you as much as a NFA tax stamp every year to register your AR15.

I'm not entirely sure that the Democrats are that concerned. They see a problem and they want to fix it, too bad their logic will never solve the problem.

Once AW are banned and crime continues to rise they'll push for more restrictions on guns (and in neighboring states), once that fails they'll put restrictions on the next weapon, and so on and so on.

They'll continue to push legislation to make the weapon illegal all the while not really doing anything to solve the actual problem, the revolving doors on the judicial system and the weak penalties for serious crime.

Looks like the the Legislators were hard at work on Tuesday.

Where is bd on this thread?

He thinks he's proven that Republicans are anti-gun.

Looking for an HDR*, either an AR-180B, or Kel-Tec FBR.

I was actually thinking about this the other day. I think too many people think of the Democratic party today as what the Democratic party was 60 years ago.

It's sad, but you're right.

I think that is why they get a lot of the elderly vote.

A lot of the elderly people might think that "democrat" still means the likes of Truman and FDR.....and even JFK.

Sadly, it does not.

Still pretty silent from our favorite Democrat/Progressive advocates.

I guess they pick their fights, so I'll give it to them for that.
