It might serve them well at least to read it. They would never understand, but maybe something would sink in?

Mullanman, with all due respect, if I thought something might sink in, I would. Realize these are the same two Senators who are against the common citizen having a ccw, but they both do, as do their respective bodyguards. Their hypocrisy rings out loud and clear.
You know what, while writing this, I have changed my mind. I will send them the letter and I will post their form letter reply just to show everyone what we have to deal with in this state. Edited to add: I, as I'm sure others, ck'd snopes.com for any info on this letter, but couldn't find anything. Yes, I know that site is not perfect, but they do have a lot of info. I don't know if that necessarily means the letter is legit or not tho. Edited again to add:***Mullanman, I just sent the letter to both of them via email. If I'm missing from this forum within a few days as a result, I'm blaming you!! Last edited by retired : 02-02-2007 at 09:57 PM. |

Good Letter. I hope it is real. I can see feeling that way if I were there. I especially hate the way snipers are so often limited from engaging. How the H*ll are they supposed to snipe when they have to call in prior to each shot? Anyone else seen "Jarhead"? That film really hit me..
Every war we have "lost" was lost in Washington. Let the working man work, let the killing man kill. Micromanagement is EVIL!!! ( I say that a LOT.)

Glad to hear that you didn't dismiss the letter as "fake" because it didn't agree with your own internal bias, like some people chose to do. Frank

I merely expressed my opinion which is one of suspicion. Obviously I know many DO feel as the letter expresses. As for what was said subsequently - like about WWII - even in that conflict the primary objective was not to kill as many of the enemy (excluding women and children) as possible. We took countless POWs (particularly in the European theatre of operations). Most of whom actually appreciated our civilized treatment of them. (certainly there were battle-field exceptions, but not condoned by the government or our military leadership). I had said that something to the effect that there was no purpose to kill one more of the enemy than necessary. I stand by that. What does superfluous death accomplish? Why do we look back at what happened at Dresden with national regret? Why do we still debate the need to nuke Japan more than 60 years later? The objective to war is to win. Not to kill as many as possible. Especially for a country that contends to hold a higher moral ground. Peace, D.
