Thumbs down War Protesters: Cowardly and Disrespectful

An excerpt from a NY Times article about the recent anti-war protests on Capitol Hill.

Quote:
There were a few tense moments, however, including an encounter involving Joshua Sparling, 25, who was on crutches and who said he was a corporal with the 82nd Airborne Division and lost his right leg below the knee in Ramadi, Iraq. Mr. Sparling spoke at a smaller rally held earlier in the day at the United States Navy Memorial, and voiced his support for the administration’s policies in Iraq.

Later, as antiwar protesters passed where he and his group were standing, words were exchanged and one of the antiwar protestors spit at the ground near Mr. Sparling; he spit back.

Capitol police made the antiwar protestors walk farther away from the counterprotesters.

“These are not Americans as far as I’m concerned,” Mr. Sparling said.
HOW DARE these leftist protesters spit at a veteran. WTF is wrong with these people? This man served his country bravely and lost one of his legs doing so. How cowardly do you have to be to spit at a man on crutches with only 1 leg?

This angers me to no end....

Even if you disagree with the war, you have to remember that the soldiers don't set the policy. They do what they are ordered to do. How can people blame them for the war?

How pathetic these war protesters have become. I thought I had seen it all when I saw people chaining themselves down in the middle of the streets and running around with fake blood all over themselves.

I think this new bunch just found an old edition of the Vietnam Protestor Field Manual and followed the instructions in Chapter 2, subsection 13:

"Find the closest person in uniform you can, and fling whatever bodily fluids happen to be available in their general direction. Any epithets you choose to employ may be used at this time, including (example), 'baby killer', 'pig', or, when in doubt, just something generic like 'Down with The Man!'. It doesn't matter if they deserve it or not, the cause demands it!"

You gotta love these people--masters of the grand and completely useless dramatic gesture. Maybe it helps them believe their early years in the '60's weren't completely wasted to be able to do it all again.

And that soldier showed more restraint than I would have under the circumstances. The protestor that did the spitting would have had to see a proctologist about a crutch problem.

Frank you left out the best part... Cpl Sparling is in the 82nd Airborne and he was interviewed on Hannity this afternoon. He said a number of the protesters spat at him, but the guy who actually hit him had an 82nd Airborne patch on his backpack. Apparently, his "good" leg is all eff'ed up too, they had to take some of his stomach muscles to reconstruct the muscles on his leg.

The whole incident just makes me sick - it's disgusting to the Nth degree.

Wow--I didn't hear about that. If it was in the article I read, I wouldn't have left it out!

Someone actually hit the guy? Damn.

These leftist protestors are sick individuals indeed.

I'm half expecting someone to come in here defending them and crying about "free speech". eleanor might lay low though, since she got the recent "Two Americans" thread locked by personally attacking people. But there are others....

Apparently he is going to appear on Hannity and Colmes tonight if you get it and want to tune in.

I'm at work now, but I'm leaving shortly. I'll try to catch it. If I can't, I am sure they will have the video on foxnews.com

The person who spit is directly responsible for his actions, as is the soldier who lost his leg.

this is the same attitude the war protester has.........do you see how its a dead end street?

No one can be right when the government is wrong.....and I don't just mean about Iraq. Our Government as a whole is creating two different factions, the Neo-Con Anti freedom borderline Hitler types, And the Stalin like socialist anti freedom types.

Can anyone here even tell me what liberal and Conservative mean and where the terms even come from? Don't jump on any wagon before you know where its going.

I didn't hear that either. Here's the link to the actual article, courtesy of Drudge:

The bit about the spitting is on page 2.

Did you hear about the letter he received while at Walter Reed? The front had patroitic images, but the inside said,

"Dear Soldier,

Hae a great time in the war and have a great time dieing (sic) in the war.

From Miguel

PS. DIE"

http://michellemalkin.com/archives/004021.htm

this is just sick sick sick .
