Turn Out the Lights...

...the party's over.....

Quote:
Democrats Hiring Up for Investigations
Evidence continues to mount that the new Democratic majority plans to investigate the war, energy policy, and other Bush policies, as key committees have begun hiring lawyer-investigators whose job will be to probe the administration. In the House, for example, the Appropriations Committee under Rep. John Murtha's direction is hiring investigators who will be charged with looking into the administration's war policies and spending in Iraq and Afghanistan. Also, Rep. Henry Waxman, the incoming chairman of the House Government Reform Committee who's been dogging the vice president's energy task force, is also hiring lawyers. A Democratic leadership official said that the planned hearings and investigations into the war and other issues the lawyer-investigators are being hired to look into will be "very focused." In the Senate, officials said similar hirings were underway in a speeded up effort to have people in place for the start of the new Congress, especially the planned early January hearings into the war and military spending that are set to begin January 8.

The Bush adminstration has had no congressional oversight for the last 6 years. I hope they enjoyed it while it lasted.

I have no problem with investigations, as long as it doesn't become a political witchhunt...which it will, of course.

Like the Clinton witch hunt....?

It's the nature of the political beast. Too bad we can't do anything about it.

Subjects have very little say in such matters. It is a club whose membership is restricted to the powerful and wealthy.

bd, you really need to get someone to pull that burr out of your saddle. Have you ever posted anything that doesn't demonize the GOP?

Take a deep breath and step away from the computer. Grab your XD and go do something that will help your blood pressure drop a few notches.

It's really not all Bush's fault...

You must be new here Orange.

We shouldn't pick on bd, he voted for Kerry for President and he is sticking by his guns that the gun-grabbing Democrats are good for America...well, good for Liberal America at least.

bd will probably continue to bash Republicans until there is a gun-grabbing Democrat President sitting in the White House.

Well it's like this...

Since I have been on this board (5+yrs) the Republicans have had complete control of the house, the senate and the White House.

I don't think that there are many people who won't admit that many of them have done a pretty sorry job of being decent, ethical leaders of our nation.

It's all well documented and easy to present to those who prefer facts to opinions.

Now the Democrats are about to take over all but the White House. They'll have a chance to show me and everyone else if they can do better than the Republicans have done for the last 6 to 10 years.

I'll admit that there are many elected Democrats who are sorry SOBs but they haven't had a chance to prove it like the Republicans have during this administration. In fact no adminstration in the history of the United States has seen as much greed and corruption as we have lately.

When the Democrats take their seats and gain control of congress in a few weeks we will then see if they can conduct the business of our nation on a higher moral and ethical level than the Republicans have. I'm sure there will be some scandalous activity from some Democrat official somewhere, it's a safe bet politics, money and power will corrupt somone somewhere along the line.

But since none of you have seen how I react or how any of us react now that the Democrats are about to assume control I think you all are just blowin' smoke trying to guess what the Democrats or I will do when they take over and have a chance to get settled into their jobs.

As I've said before many of you folks think you are so damned good at predicting what Democrats will do but no one, nobody at all was able to see the shame and disgrace coming that so many people in the GOP brought to their party in the last few years.

So far your ability to see into the future has been pretty embarassing. I think I'd let it rest, while you're still ahead.

We'll give the Democrats every opportunity to hang themselves...just like the Republicans.

You keep repeating this falsehood. The Republicans did not have "complete control." A simple majority is not good enough, as we have clearly seen.

Notice bd never answered that question?

bd's last post tries to make it seem like he is unbiased and fair:

Orangeskies, you have noticed that bd is not fair in the content of his posts. If he was really unbiased and trying to give everyone a fair shake, he would not be posting thread after thread after thread about corrupt things that Republicans do. If he were truly against anyone who is corrupt and unethical, he would have posted nearly the same amount of articles about republicans and he has democrats.

If you really feel this way, bd, then why don't you ever post any articles about corrupt things that democrats do and why do you always try to hijack threads that are about corrupt things that democrats have done (example: Sandy Burglar thread)???? You shouldn't ignore corrupt practices when they come from democrats.

bd is obviously a partisan, which in and of itself is not bad. But it is sad when you pretend to be fair and judge people equally, but at the same time you only ever talk about corruption when it concerns Republicans. Do not believe these kinds of posts where he tries to appear to be someone who gives everyone a fair shake. It is very obvious that he is not simply against unethical individuals as a whole; he is only concerned if they have an "R" next to their name.
