AP is Reporting That gunmen in Baghdad has taken hostages. I have question when did the terrorists in Iraq cease to be terrorists and become gunmen. Are they trying to down play the terrorist part or are they trying to equate those that carry to terrorist?

If we were to go by the Old West terms I would be a gunfighter, because I use my tools to fight off the wolves. But in modern terms I would fall under a gunman mainly because I carry. I have never taken anyone hostage, never kidnapped, murdered, or slaughtered anyone. Those of us that carry for the protection of our families are commonly referred to as sheepdogs because we stand between those that want to do evil and those that are oblivious to the danger (or sheeple).

While we are all aware of that those in the media seam to be the least educated people in this country and they do have an agenda in this it's tough to see which angle they are going for, unless they are trying to kill two birds with one stone. Making the monsters not look as vile as they really are and try to make those that are decent law abiding citizens who carry look like monsters. But I guess that's what you get with public education

I hope they didn't call them gunmen instead of terrorist to keep from hurting their precious little feelings. What has this world come to.

Whats the difference between a terrorist and a gunman?? Are they really different or do we use the word terrorist way too much?? if they forcibly took someone against thier will, aren't they kidnappers?? If they have guns wouldn't they be armed kidnappers?? How come the guy that robs your local 7-11 or a bank with a gun isn't a terrorist?? How come 'gangs' aren't called terrorist cells?? Why do we have hand gun laws since all guns are controlled with the hand, why no pistol laws to seperate the selection??

This same thing happened with the Irish Terrorists that the British called Terrorists but we (our press) called them gunmen.

The other thing is to bolster what Dakotaranger said. Take the dummied down kids and young adults who are the products of our lowest common denominator school systems; teach them that guns are bad and we don't have the right to have them, just the militias do. Then inundate them with press about what gunmen (gun owners) will do that is violent, illegal and wrong. (Never mind the fact that the people who do the violent, illegal, wrong things are criminals who don't care what the government or society says.) Then, pass draconian gun laws that only make those who want to obey the law into potential victims for the criminals to attack at will. Then, when this happens, these idiots call for more restrictions, which the politicians are only too happy to respond to, and make a bad situation worse. (Repeat until everyone is dead, or everyone is a criminal for wanting to protect themselves.)

To quote Quinn (local radio talk show host who recently got on to XM radio), and his first law: "Liberalism will always acheive the effect that is opposite of their stated intent."

Example: We want to make the streets safe. To do so, we will ban all guns in this city. (NYC anyone?)

Result: Only criminals have guns, they still have gun related crime, and as a bonus, their crime rates have climbed, and murder by gun may have gone down, but murder by other means has increased.

Thats not cowardly, thats devotion. Now change the 'Freedom' to Christ and it takes a whole new meaning. Were not the 'Revolutionists' of the country 'terrorists'?? And when did "terrorists" turn into "insurgents"? Now we have "terrorist insurgent gunmen"....sort of a mouthful. Why not just turn them all into "dead bodies"? That's easier to say......
