What happened to civilized debate?

This the 2nd such incident at a major college in the past couple of months.
At "Law Schools" no less.
Does anyone else notice the a "certain" group of people can't listen to ideas and debate without getting emotional and violent. Seems to be the same ones all the time.

Tancredo protesters turn violent
By Anne Mulkern
Denver Post Staff Writer
Article Last Updated:12/01/2006 12:45:23 PM MST

Protestors at a Michigan law school turned violent Thursday as they attempted to stop a speech by Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Littleton. (Post)
Violence erupted at a Michigan law school Thursday when protestors tried to block a speech by Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo.
Police were called after protestors pulled a fire alarm prior to the speech on immigration policies. There were at least three violent incidents with protestors targeting student backers of the event, Tancredo, R-Littleton, said today.
"One was spit on, one was kicked, and one was punched," Tancredo said in an e-mail. "Tires were also slashed."

His recent public speech saying that Miami resembled the 3rd world really pissed off a lot of people.

If the only way to win the debate is to stop the otherside from making their speeches it seemd fair to say you have already lost.

as always just my humble opinion.

Pretty much sums it up. Keep in mind, these are college kids. If they are anything like 90% of the ones I knew, they arent the brightest Crayons in the box

It doesn't surprise me that they want to squash the freedom of speech. They are trying to squash the 2nd Amendment.

The liberal administration in many of these schools is largely to blame for brainwashing and playing on gullibility of the younger, naive, students. I live near Kent State University, and I know that they still make the students go to an orientation upon arriving there, and the orientation focuses on the shooting by the National Guard in the '60's. I can tell you, they aren't promoting enrollment in the National Guard. It is definitely a one sided story. All of these immature, impressionable 18 year old kids show up thinking that they are big people now that they have graduated high school. They show up looking for guidance, and their first class is a class on activism and war protest. They still walk around with candles and cry about the shot students from 30-odd years ago, like they were their sister or something. Listening to the song Ohio by Crosby, Stills. F&*kin retards. They don't say a word about the students looting, urinating on police or throwing bricks from the roofs of buildings on to troops. Definitely aren't talking about the arson committed by the students.

I just recently enrolled in a Master's program. I am going back to school as a 37 year old adult student. I had a tough time finding a school around here that wasn't going to force bull$hit, liberal courses down my throat.

Another terrific example of tolerance and diversity embraced by the left.

How about denying voting rights until you've paid federal income taxes three consecutive years?

Tolerance and compromise have never been strong suites for the far left. Not that the far right is much better at these things. I just wish more people could accommodate a moderate position. Intolerance is never understandable regardless of what side you’re coming from. To take offense at everything you don’t agree with is not the way we grew as a nation and it will spell the end of our democracy. When the demagogue rules through intimidation and out shouting the opposition, everyone loses. All you have to do is look at some of the posts on this very forum to see the results of this behavior.

I whole heartedly agree with you on that note.
