Think that's bad, try here in California!

What about Henderson or Boulder City? Get outside LV city limits.

I have to jump in here.
First off, it's the City of Las Vegas. If you can, buy/rent in one of the outlying suburbs. Blame it on all the dumb**** Kalifornians who've moved there. The rest of Nevada is about the most gun freindly place you'll ever find.

Secondly and test this at your own risk.
The State of Nevada HAS Preemption. That means that, by LAW:
Quote:
NRS 269.222 Limited authority to regulate firearms.

1. Except as otherwise provided by specific statute, the Legislature reserves for itself such rights and powers as are necessary to regulate the transfer, sale, purchase, possession, ownership, transportation, registration and licensing of firearms and ammunition in Nevada, and no town may infringe upon those rights and powers.

2. A town board may proscribe by ordinance or regulation the unsafe discharge of firearms.

3. As used in this section, “firearm” means any weapon from which a projectile is discharged by means of an explosive, spring, gas, air or other force.

(Added to NRS by 1989, 652)
That means that the Las Vegas registration law is patently illegal!

Not a Lawyer.
I'm just the one who was responsible for getting the Nevada Legislature onto the Internet.
http://www.leg.state.nv.us
I built that when I was working for the Legislature.

One of two ways.

There are plenty of suburbs that are not actually part of the "City of Las Vegas". Buy/Rent in one of those and let them take a flying leap.

Fight it. Start by contacting the AG's office and ask them why CofLV is allowed to violate NRS 269.222.
Hell, do that anyways and post back letting us know what they say.

quickSilverPDX, can you cite for me the reason you say that you're not allowed to keep your Assault Rifles?

(And I presume you mean a Class III, not a "So Called Assault Weapon")
