Ohio Passes Preemption!!!

But It will be vetoed

As reported by OFCC. IT passed overwhelmingly, and only one vote shy on the house to be capable of overiding a veto. THey thought Taft would not sign it into law, but that he would not veto it either. He stated today he will veto it. THe Highway Patrol actualy approved of it this time too, and that was what Taft said his hesitation was.

Taft originally said he would sign it if the OHP approved of the bill. They do. They should have held the bill up until Strickland took office. I never thought I would hear myself say something like "wait until the Democrat governor-elect takes office". Strickland says he would sign it.

Damn. Stabbed in the back by a Republican I voted for. That hurts!

Remember that Taft is the one who signed the first CCW law in Ohio.

The second time around. He wouldn't sign it the first time. God, I hope he signs it this time.

This should be a lesson to all about the irresponsibility of voting based on the R or D alone. Shame on who didn't research before voting for this one... being an independant never felt better!

Oh, this Taft guy has been around for 8 years. He is a total knob. He is a lame duck on his way out. Strickland is the incoming governor, and he is "pro-gun", but his Lieutenenant Governor is Lee Fisher. Handgun Control, Inc. Chairman. It will be an interesting ride.

Holding it off till The new governor wouldnt have done any better... At the end of this year, the bill would be dead, and htey would need a new one anyhow... At least we know Strickland will pass it if it does come to that. I guess Tafy just wants to piss everyone off one more time before leaving office.

Screw you Tax-Boy Taft.

I voted for the sack of crap too. The whole hang up on the original ccw was that he said he would sign it if the OSP supported it. They fought it for over 10 years and then when the climate changed and almost all states are having it.....they saw we had a non veto majority and were afraid it would pass anyway and they didn't want to be on the losing end.
I remember the articles about it...They said crap like " The state highway patrol has safety as the main concern...they want to be involved in the writing process of the bill and if they can create a safe situation, then they would support a ccw bill."
What BS...they were against the lowly average citizens carrying for over a decade, then when they saw it was inevitable they pulled a John Kerry and supported it.

Remember, pre-emption is a double-edged sword. Blanket over-rideth powers can soon turn into blanket taketh-away powers, especially in a state as precarious as Ohio.
