This should be a lesson to those who promote voting for the individual without placing great deal of emphasis on the persons' Party affilitation.

If we would have elected a Democrat Governor instead of Taft 8 years ago, then we would have been without a CCW law to this day.

Wow Im not tring to be mean, but I will be...That sir is a very ignorant statement. I am looking forward to having Strickland as governor yet he has a D next to his name. Its not just the Dems that hate guns, the GOP will gladly strip you of your rights (all of them) also. Just look at the last 8 years.

Timmy's got ya there. This is just that, proof (as if there wasn't plenty already) that republicans will take away rights as well as democrats, a fact beyond any contestation. True, more democrats are anti-gun than republicans, but then again, we've all seen republicans take point in the violation of other amendments, particularly the 4th; the 2nd is just one of 10, and anybody who believes in throwing ANY of the others out, while preaching freedom while looking out for only one, is not looking out for the welfare of this nation, but his own interests. In the case of the NRA, they care about guns, nothing more, and as such are just as bad as what they claim to be against.

It is why voting for a party line, without any effort put forth to learn the policies of the man or woman running for a particular position, is irresponsible. It is why blind obedience is flawed, and is why both the DNC and the GOP love voters who are incapable or unwilling to pay attention, just as long as they choose that D or R selection. Blind obedience, regardless of what is being followed, is no different than cult-like behavior. There is a reason cults AND political parties love blind obedience from their voters, because they can do and say anything, and the person will just bend over and say "Thank you, may I have another?", while the parties and/or cults only go after their own interests, NOT the interests of those who they claim to represent.

That is why I believe in being independant, and am proud of it. I can then honestly say that I don't mindlessly bow the the will of people who don't give a damn about me, but at the same time, can make educated votes based on what would be best for the good of the nation. But don't get me wrong, I don't believe in infringing on the rights of people to vote based on party alone, but then THEY must take responsibility when someone they voted for goes against the stereotypical view of the party. I will go to bed tonight comforted that I never voted for anybody who has been a traitor to the constitution. Voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil.

Good post zulu. You made your point excellently, a little too much hyperbole, but excellent.

I am proud to be a 99% Republican voter, I am not mindless, irresponsible, blind, flawed, bend-overish, cult-like, attention deficient....did I get them all? When I don't like a Republican candidate, I don't vote for him/her, but I do not vote for the Democrat adversary...ever.

When Democrat John F. Kerry called my brother, who was fighting in Vietnam at the time, a murderer and rapist I swore off Liberals and Democrats forever. That may sound like a blind overreaction to some, but Kerry's words and actions since 1970s have proven to me that the Liberals/Democrats hold most of Kerry's liberal ideology.

Kerry was not telling a joke, period!

EDIT: I realize it may have sounded like it, but don't worry, not calling the Democrat or the Republican parties cults, was just trying to use the analogy in my argument for blind obedience.
