Stay the Course

A newly translated letter from al-Qaeda’s leadership to their Iraq organization shows the Bush administration’s “stay the course” Iraq strategy is exactly what al Qaeda wants:

Quote:
The most important thing is that you continue in your jihad in Iraq, and that you be patient and forbearing, even in weakness, and even with fewer operations; even if each day had half of the number of current daily operations, that is not a problem, or even less than that. So, do not be hasty. The most important thing is that the jihad continues with steadfastness and firm rooting, and that it grows in terms of supporters, strength, clarity of justification, and visible proof each day. Indeed, prolonging the war is in our interest, with God’s permission.
It is becoming more and more evident we are playing in to Al-Qaeda's hands with this strategy. The situation in Iraq is deteroriating quickly and we are going to lose any type of "upper hand" that we may have if someone doesn't do something different soon.

I agree, let's let our troops kill more terrorists.

Go Army!

Sure. The exact same course that has freed 95% of Iraq.
Killing our enemy, the Islamo-Nazis in case you forgot. They're the fun loving characters who want you and everything you love...dead. Your hatred of some things American won't save you. These animals have found the hiding better in Baghdad. It's a S.O.B. rooting out rats like these, but we are. And now it's happening more and more with real assistance from the locals. This is absolutely the worst case scenario for our enemy, they are being marginalized. If this offends you, avert your vision. Victory will be ours.

We havent freed anyone in Iraq. They are still subject to the sectarian violence they were before, made worse by the US presence. There was no plan from the beginning, which is why we are going to pull out, and let the country descend into civil war. Its been what, 4 years since we invaded, and the military capacity of Iraq is only at best, 20%.

Does that mean we need to occupy for the next 15 years to finish the job? Come on, poor planning, or lack thereof is what got us into this situation...

No, it was originally to go in and get Saddam out, because he had ties to AQ, and harbored terrorists

I guess if one lie gets busted, might as well cover it up with another lie, right?

No disrespect intended. But to state that American fighting forces and their allies "havent freed anyone in Iraq" is painfully inaccurate. Baghdad and some surrounding areas are in pathetic condition no question. But to paint the nation of Iraq with the same brush is to be misinformed. Now remember, we invaded Germany 61 years ago. Were still there. And for a dang good reason too.

Answer this question:

Are the people of Iraq, despite geographic location, still subject to sectarian violence, and now due to US occupation, the threat of terrorist attack?

I did. No. Iraq as a whole is doing much better since it was liberated from Saddam. Baghdad is in bad shape. Much of it's condition was never anticipated. Thats our bad, no question. This enemy of Iraq is using the cracks and crevices of a city. They blow themselves and innocence apart
because of the changing conditions of Iraq. We don't disagree much here. Were just observing this threw different lenses.
