Liberals & Citgo

Venezuela Dictator Vows To Bring Down U.S. Government

Venezuela government is sole owner of Citgo gasoline company

Venezuela Dictator Hugo Chavez has vowed to bring down the U.S. government. Chavez, president of Venezuela, told a TV audience: "Enough of imperialist aggression; we must tell the world: down with the U.S. empire. We have to bury imperialism this century."

The guest on his television program, beamed across Venezuela, was Cindy Sheehan, the antiwar activist. Chavez recently had as his guest Harry Belafonte, who called President Bush "the greatest terrorist in the world."

Chavez is pushing a socialist revolution and has a close alliance with Cuban dictator Fidel Castro. Regardless of your feelings about the war in Iraq, the issue here is that we have a socialist dictator (yeah, yeah, I know - he was "elected") vowing to bring down the government of the U.S. And he is using our money to achieve his goal! The Venezuela government, run by dictator Chavez, is the sole owner of Citgo Oil company. Sales of products at Citgo stations send money back to Chavez to help him in his vow to bring down our government.

YOU CAN VERIFY THIS ON THE CITGO WEB PAGE.

Another interesting page, noting the close ties of Citgo and Boston (that well known font of American conservative thinking ) boasts the sign found here:

http://www.citgo.com/AboutCITGO/BostonSign.jsp

Close ties? Oh, yeah!

If America stands up against Chavez, I am certain that Citgo will fall faster than America will. Unlike in Venezuela, we have options when it comes to buying fuel. I choose to not purchase fuel from Citgo. You?

I rather buy from the Venezuelan "El Loco Presidente" than the middle eastern who are killing us. It's been a year now since I've go out of my way (inclusive to my family) that I try not to buy oil (gas) from the middle east. We can't fund thier war on US!!!!

So let me see if I've got this right...if you're a conservative and you want to be Politically Correct (neo-con version), don't buy from Citgo. Is that it? And the alternative...the good, Politically Correct oil company, would be....?

Chavez is a jerk-wad, but so is everybody else who wants to sell me petroleum products. And tennis shoes. And clothes. And electricity. And cars. And.... When I'm near the local 7-11 and I'm running on fumes I fill up there, because their diesel is 10 cents cheaper than the Sunoco down the road. Long as that remains the case, I can't really afford to care who owns the pump.

Interesting note I just found on Snopes.com...something for all you Politically Correct neo-con gas-buyers to think about:
"Although Citgo may be owned by Petróleos de Venezuela, it is a formerly American company which is still headquartered in the U.S. (in Houston, Texas) where it employs 4,000 people"

Aaah, scr*w 'em.

Perhaps the local stores will do what 7/11 has done and elect not to carry Citgo fuel and franchise with another company, such as BP/AMOCO or another.

A. I am not a "neo-con" (whatever the h**l that is). I suspect (based on the meaning of word "neo") you mean "new conservative". Not sure how old you are, but I was a conservative when Dwight was president. If that's "new", than I'll accept your term.

B. Try KwikFill (if you have one down your way. Their 100% American owned, 100% American supplied (all their products come from USA well - not from the Middle East or South America/Mexico).

C. Citgo was an American company and owned the wells in Venezuela UNTIL their wells, pumping and port facilities, and associated refineries were nationalized by Chaves. His government paid Citgo pennies on the dollar for their real worth.

I don't buy Citgo, Mobil, Sunoco, Shell, Amoco - I stick to QuickFill in town. If I'm on the road, it's a toss up - whatever is available at a reasonable price.

And, BTW - I've been doing this for several years now - guess us "neo's" aren't so "neo" after all.

Just my way of doing it...you do as you see fit.
