CHeezus-christ-on-a-crutch I will never endorse cronyism no matter what party is in charge. But when your campaign is financed to the hilt by corporations, you have to dance with the ones that brought you. Therefore we have hacks like USS Condoleeza ("I believe the memo was titled 'Bin Laden determined to strike within the U.S.'") Rice (energy company executive) and Dick "F#CK YOU" Cheney (energy company executive) in positions that are intended to serve the people but have been bastardized to serve their true masters, the ones that paved (and paid) their way to fame and are looking for some corporate welfare. You don't buy influence for the greater good, you buy for your damn self. Incompetent boobs like Bush and Cheney are just symptoms of a larger problem IMHO.

I get the feeling she'd kick my ass and I wouldn't even know it was kicked.

I think you rather do her a disservice simply labelling her an "energy company executive".

And she does you a disservice by being your Secretary of State. Follow the money. She's a hack. A well educated hack, but a hack nonetheless. Powell was the ideal Secretary of State but he could no longer be the administration's stooge. Condi is much more willing.

I would love to see her run against the witch from Arkansas/New York. I'd vote for her(Condi).

It's interesting to me that what passes for Republican political discourse these days (from the Prez on down to Joe-Sixpack-Gettin-Screwed-and-Lovin-It) now centers exclusively on just two theses:
1. "At least he's better than Clinton" (popular variations on this theme include "I dread to think where we'd be if Gore was President", "Condi is better than Madelaine", etc.). It's as if nobody can even think of anything positive to say about the guy while keeping a straight face. Sad, really. I fully expect this line of argumentation will soon descend to its logical conclusion: "BUSH: He's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick (sort-of)." This insistence on re-living the glory days by continuing to run against Gore...six years later...says a lot about why we are where we are now. 2. "We didn't screw up in Iraq. No, really. Honest! Well, OK, it's screwed up big-time, but it's not our fault. La-la-la-la-la, I can't hear you!" I find this one freakin' terrifying. What with these two issues being the best arguments the Republicans can muster nowadays, their platform for the November elections is reduced to: 3. "BOO! Scared ya, huh? BOO! BOO! BOO! Whoooo...spooky!" We are in such deep doo-doo.

Remember the good'o'days when we discussed wether or not a blowjob from an intern was considered "cheating" on your wife or if a blowjob was considered "sex" by definition?
Now'a'days we discuss wether waterboarding is considered torture and wether or not it's OK to kill hundreds of thosands of Civilians in Iraq in order to find the "terrorists". Republican Talking Point 101: Sex = BAD BAD BAD... War = GOOD GOOD GOOD.

Damn good post Doc. When all you got to compare the current president to is the ex-president who in the eyes of the oh so moral Rightwingers was no more than a dog in heat it is really hard to listen to them with a straight face. You got to wonder how many of the RightWingnuts still go to sleep at night thinking about Clinton's willy. bd |
