Yes, I was in the Army for 22 years (1977-1999)
I have three out of four kids in the service right now. Two in the Air-Force (and that just kills me ( "Dad I join the Air-Force" God Dam-it)
my wife just laugh and laugh at me) and one in the Army.

Kid #1 is in the Air-Force, on her 3rd tour in Iraq
Kid #2 is in the ARMY,in Germany,he's going to Iraq next summer 1st.tour
Kid #3 also in Air-Force,in Germany, because of his MOS hopefully will not go to Iraq.
kid#4 got married right out of High School she lives just down the road.

The people I listed like to talk Big and call those that do not agree with them names.and thats Bulls#!+.

Also one is to NEVER talk SH!T about a former P.O.W. unless you are one yourself.

P.S. thanks for help'n out

Thank you for your and your
childrens

services. You should be (as I'm sure you are) proud.

I have a problem as I have recently been questioned for my lack of service. I grew up fully intending to serve and in the end my life took another path. When that decision was made we were in no wars. So I don't feel I "chickened out". However I've always felt a little guilt about not serving and thats
probably where it got under my skin so well.

Like I said I feel pulled in two different directions. On one side I feel all service members are heros be it police, fire department and military. But I also am frustrated when that prior service is used as a trump card for later life. I will always respect their service and consider their past actions heroic. Saving a drowning child doesn't get you out of criminal charges later in life. However no one can take away the fact that you did something great in life.

This is aimed at no one person and just a general line of thought.

I really respect her service and her injuries require our countries greatest gratitude. However I don't have to agree with her political aspirations because of it.

Edit: sorry my spell checker seems to be disagreeing with the forum. It also likes to change fonts on random words!?

I'll agree with you on that. Although I tend to be annoyed with anyone who attacks and talks crap just because someone is different then them.
