It is true that selling "Anti-America" is no longer a good sale strategy when it comes to the US consumer. In other parts of the word, The Evil USA approach still works, sadly, when it comes time to sell your magazine/newspaper.

"Losing Afghanistan" = Anti-America...?

You can tell that from the magazine cover?

Oprah has a new show on XM radio, you guys must be plumb giddy.

Big Brother has got you just where he wants you.

You both make good points. But considering the difference between the US and "rest of the world" as far as newsweek goes...i dont see how you can come to the conclusion its not somehow "anti" american. Newsweek knows that outside of the US a majority of people do not like what the US is doing. So, in order to sell something more outside of the US, the print an issue that is aimed to show how the US is loosing its stronghold/control in afghanistan. BY printing an article of this nature and making it a feature, what other conclusion could you come to? They know that printing something that shows how the US is loosing somewhere/doing something a majority of the people in that market dont agree with, will get more people to read that issue in that market.

I always thought the news should be just that, news. Let the people decide.
