I'm all in favor of gay marriage. Why shouldn't they have the opportunity to experience the pain as well?

The Bible also states that disrespecting your parents is to be punished by stoning to death. I recall that the Qur'an is not that extreme, indeed it says that people are not necessarily responsible for their actions until they reach adulthood; children will be children and by nature do not know the consequences of their actions. The Bible also says that worshippers of other religions are to be put to death; the Qur'an simply says that if they do not interfere with your religion than do not interfere with theirs but if Islam is the majority religion you can forbid other religions from prostelytizing to Muslims and ban behaviors that are haram (such as alcohol or foods). The Bible also says that when a woman is raped, provided she is not engaged or already married, then she must marry her rapist. Islam says rape, regardless of the victim's marital situation, is punishable by death.

Point is, as Son of Norway tries to point out, is that gay marriage is ultimately opposed because people do not like it. There are no hard facts stating that gay marriage will destroy society or ruin future generations. You may dislike gay marriage because of religious conviction but once you start legislating explicitly religious practice or restrictions then the flood gates are open and the possibility of the most extreme forms of religion becoming law are possible.
