Proposed Ordinance/Each Household to Have Firearm

Now that's what I'm talkin' about! I know Kennesaw, Georgia has a similar ordinance.
Good luck to Greenleaf, Idaho....
Proposed Ordinance asks Each Household to Have a Firearm

I have to say I disagree with making it a legal requirement. Government paternalism is government paternalism, no matter which way you spin it.

Leave it up to individual choice.

I agree. There are people in this country that have a fear of any type of firearm. It goes against the grain to force everyone to have a firearm in the house. It's up to the individual citizen to recognize that they have both a right and an obligation to provide for their own personal defense. The government has no place dictating who shall/shall not have firearms.

All we ask of any government is to stop meddling (beyond the reasonable restrictions that no one will have a flame thrower, nuculer weapon, high explosives, etc., etc.) with these rights. All any really thoughtful person asks is that government at all levels facilitate our right to posess and carry and stop the needless and counterproductive efforts to restrict our ability to provide for our own defense.

I can just see the new bumper sticker:

"THEY'LL FORCE ME TO CARRY A GUN WHEN THEY WEDGE IT BETWEEN MY COLD DEAD FINGERS"

I don't know about you, but I've got a few neighbors whom I'm very, very glad don't own guns. Heck, I'm not even comfortable with them owning rocks.

Ummm - I think you picked the wrong end there, Doc - it might read better as

"THEY'LL FORCE ME TO CARRY A GUN WHEN THEY WEDGE IT BETWEEN THE CHEEKS OF MY COLD DEAD A*S"

While I haven't read the actual ordinance, hopefully it is written as a strong suggestion and not a legal requirement. As it is, Caldwell isn't a great town to be located near. I think that such encouragement (as long as it isn't coerced) could be productive.

Ha - I knew there had to be some areas of agreement, Delija.
