The Twilight Zone We Live In

"One thing that changed after 9/11 is this: we now live in a twilight zone where it’s possible that a senator, John McCain, in expressing qualms at the Bush administration’s determination to interpret the Geneva conventions at whim, can be seen as hurting his own presidential prospects."

Sadly True.

I love it when they elude to the fact that John McCain knows nothing about War or Torture...

Thumbs down

As a republican from AZ, I am ashamed of this liberal named John McCain.

Obviously the president doesn't understand it either.

Is he a candidate for the curse?

Every senator that became president never completed a term.

Wow, if I posted new threads every day to defame the Political Party I abhor then I would be called an extremist whacko.

+1/2 I don't know if I'm ashamed of him. He used to do just do what he felt was right. Which I love. I don't like party hacks. However lately it is starting to disagree with what I believe. Especially his view on immigration.

I should clarify. Apparently every US Senator that went straight from the Senate to the Presidency never finished a term in Office.

Check it out:
John F. Kennedy--Assasinated
Warren G. Harding--died in office
James Garfield--assasinated--was senate elect when he won the Presidency --but he turned down the senate seat

I don't know if this is all of them, but it's interesting to say the least.

John McCain may be honored for his service and POW stint (as should be) but like many that trot off to DC and spend too much time there, he has become not only a media whore but just another politician that blows whatever direction the prevailing wind carries him. Other than the "R" beside his name, is McCain's constantly changing core belief system any different than that of John Kerry or Al Gore? Not really.

The media seems to love McCain (as they do any "R" that goes against the "R" establishment every now and then...strange they were not so enamoured of Leiberman when he did the same to his party!) but the love for McCain will fade fast when the rest of his past comes up. From the Keating Five delaings to his connections to "big beer" (marrying into the Adolph Coors family)...the media will blacklist McCain if it boils down to a choice between Hillary and this guy...count on it.

McCain is hardly an answer for what ails our system. He's barely better than Hillary as another continuation of career politicians that will always be more concearned with keeping the system going than addressing and tackling true reforms this country so despirately needs.

McCain as president will do nothing for the hot button issues of border security/illegal immigration, income tax reform (or elinimation), mid east oil independence or alternative energy sources. McCain, like Clinton, seems more focused on basking in the approval of the media and masses than being a true reformer or someone that will stand up for whats right and not only whats popular. Where IS the appeal of this guy? Other than the war hero status...what else IS there to McCain?

Do some digging on this guy and it won't take long for the lustre of John McCain to wear thin even on the most die-hard "R"'s around here.
