Oil Price Declines DAMMIT!

Wednesday, August 30, 2006
Lower oil price, Fed Reserve minutes lift US market

A further drop in the price of oil and reassuring minutes from the US Federal Reserve have held sway on Wall Street in the face of a surprisingly steep fall in consumer confidence.

Household sentiment across America has registered its biggest decline in nine months.

But crude oil prices are now below $US70 per barrel.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems...8/s1727559.htm

------------------------------------------------------

Because of this dramatic decline in the price of crude Big Oil profit forecasts look bleak compared to the previous quarterly reports.

Since mine and millions of ordinary union and non-union working and retired Americans depend on corporate profits and dividends to support their private pension funds, this is not good. I hope that everyone who has been trying to drive less and conserve gas more will see the low pump prices and put the pedal to the metal to jump start Big Oil Corporate profits.

Please everyone, drive, drive and drive some more while prices are low.

And for you Liberals - think of it this way, when gas prices are low then greedy and evil Big Oil is hurting, so go out and inflict damage to the MAN by driving while the prices are LOW, LOW, LOW.

I really hope this is a sarcastic post, because I hardly think that big oil companies are "hurting" in any way shape or form. So they're not posting record setting profits? Yeah, poor them...

But profits are good for the millions of American retirees (like me) and workers who OWN Big Oil.

That's why I am not being tooooooo sarcastic. Corporate CEOs aren't raking in the billions for themselves, profits are invested in oil exploration, maintenance, employee benefits, investing in other companies and the stock market, etc., etc.

Corporate profits are good for America remember?

perhaps you should sell your shares in "big oil" and invest in some health care-based stock...that's where all you old conservative types are headed anyway, and lord knows there's a lot of you. profits are sure to rise over time...

Such animosity

Where did I go wrong?

I guess I should have followed the crowd and stopped thinking for myself so the crowd would like me.

NNNNAAAAHHHHHHhhhhhhhh

Go for a nice long drive today amishclark, its a great day for driving. By the way, is your pension fund invested in Big Oil?

last time i checked, the "crowd" was considered republican and conservative, so...way to differentiate yourself! and as much as i enjoy driving, i've never done it un-necessarily(sp?), even when gas was cheap. as crazy as it sounds, i believe in the liberal, democratic, science-based idea of decreasing consumption of natural resources that are not replacable...

I'm not trying to diminish your beliefs, they are your beliefs.

By the way, who are you saving our natural resource of oil for? Did your parents and grandparents conserve to save oil for you? Just curious because I hear that justification so often I wonder.

see...here's the thing. oil is used for more than just gas, as i'm sure you know. along with home heating, oil is used to produce paint, pharmaceutical(sp?) supplies and drugs, plastic, and pesticides, to name a few items. now, try and imagine what life would be like without these items. think how rusty anything metal would be. imagine if our healthcare system was reduced to using herbal remedies. what would we do without plastic? and pesticides? envision the massive, worldwide starvation that would occur when we can no longer suppress insect populations...

of course, i do not believe that my small contribution (by way of my lack of use and consumption) will effect the future in any way. i do, however, believe in leading by example...teach the youth and all that. who am i conserving for? nobody. anybody. everybody. does it matter? i wish there will still buffalo roaming the plains...
