The Emporer Speaks

Last week the President gave an interview to WGNO (New Orleans) during this interview he made a very interesting remark.

Hill: "If you had to give a grade to the governor, for instance, [Louisiana] Gov. [Kathleen] Blanco, what grade would you give her for her performance throughout this?"

Bush: "Yeah, I'm not going to fall into the trap. I'll give you my grade. On my grade, I could have -- we -- the federal government, and I'm responsible for the federal government, could have done better in coordinating with the state and local government in its response.

The remark - highlighted above shows what ignorance this man has for our Constitution.

With one statement, Bush shows he has no understanding or respect for the Constitution; Bush shows he has no understanding or respect for the separation of powers; Bush shows he has no understanding or respect for the oath of office whose words he mouthed.

It's no wonder this administration has no respect for the Constitution - they don't understand it.

Some of you guys who get Christmas cards from him need to send him a copy of the Constitution instead of your money.

This is a disgrace.

OK I got to say it Bush is our repersentive of our federal goverment. He is the Commander and Cheif for the military. Which is, who should have responded faster so he can speak for them. He has the right to veto and the power to sign a bill and make it law so that covers the house and senate he also apoints justices so check there too. He has his little minions in the cabnet (ie. homeland securty{coastguard}{fema}{national guard}, and is held responceable for there actions) He is the one and the only one to speak for the federal goverment And God knows I hate the hillbilly, hick, form down south that can't get a respectitebable(bushanizim) sectence out but he is THE PRESENDENT and the man does speak for the goverment and you... You think Kerry would have done better hell he would have probably given himself another medal for doing nothing just like he did in Nam. Oh I know his wife would have just given him more money and that would make him feel better. And don't forget Mrs. Kerry comments while on the campane trail "I hate going to these f**k towns no one care about these people anyway." That was picked up by a mike in Ohio at LCCC in Elyria. I'm just afaid to see the next batch of Americas finest. This is our bed we made it and now we sleep...

I'm confused. Immediately after Katrina every left-winger was demanding that President Bush step up and take responsibility for the poor performance of FEMA and the federal government's slow response to the devastation. Well, he did that. He's doing that again in this statement. There was no demand for the three branches to apologize or be impeached. No one said, "the supreme court hates black people." All of the blame was placed on President Bush. Now you're blasting him saying he doesn't understand the constitution for saying that he's responsible for the federal government? The executive branch shares power and responsibility with congress and the supreme court, yes, but the President of the United States is just that, the head of state and the head of the federal government. I just think that the inconsistancies are ridiculous among Bush haters. He's got two more years in office. He can't be re-elected. GET OVER IT! Just wait him out, vote for whoever you want, and if the Dems win, congratulations. Or get involved with a grass-roots movement to make the changes you'd like to see happen in this country. I'm just sick of the flip-flopping.

This is pretty lame BD. He took responsibilty for a huge fiasco rather than passing the buck. It wasn't a legal oppinion.

I didn't get any christmas card and I'm still proud of him for saying he was responsible. Better then anything I've heard from anyother government official who was responsable for that mess.

Given his current approval ratings you must be having tons of great days.

My issue is more of the "I'm responsible but won't be accountable" theme of this administration. W. says he is responsible for the Katrina foul-ups, Rumy says he is responsible for any abuses at Abu Ghraib. It has the feeling like Rove told everyone that doing this would serve the double purpose of giving the 10 second sound bite of appearing humble and at the same time attempting to end any furhter discussion by saying, What, I already said I accept responsibility why are we still talking about this?

He took responsibility a year after Katrina, right before the mid-term elections.

But the issue here is not that he is responsible for the Katrina abortion, it's that he knows so little about the Constitution that he thinks he is the supreme ruler of the federal government. He has no grasp on the separation of powers written into the Constitution to prevent someone from assuming her is the supreme ruler of The United States.

Apparently a lot of other folks don't know too much about the intentions of our Constitution.

Good reply!

Since NewXD40 is on my "ignorant list" I don't get to see his blithering, delusional comments unless someone quotes him in their post.

Not that I miss them, you know.
