there was a great show on last night about katrina, it was 2 hours and was brand new on the discovery channel. showed the timelines of events....national hurricane center and fema begged, pleaded, jumped up and down and everything else to get that retard naggin and blanco to order the evacuation of N.O. They waited and waited and we know what happened........the chocolate city was under water and the dumbass chocolate mayor got re-elected........
even before the the official evacuation was ordered, the weather channel and the local networks were advising to evacuate. and to top it off, those two boob politicians sat in on the hypothetical Pam scenario not 1 year prior.........the disaster of the hurricane was mother natures fault, the disaster of the people was blanco and naggin. BD, your just so silly with the bush hatred, but it is entertaining

If we're going to turn this into a Katrina thread then let's look at the facts. Almost a year after the emporer said:
“This government will learn the lessons of Hurricane Katrina” and he promised to get the reconstruction done quickly... http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/relea...0050915-8.html New Orleans is at this point.... -Less than half of the city’s pre-storm population of 460,000 has returned, putting the population at roughly what it was in 1880. – Nearly a third of the trash has yet to be picked up. – Sixty percent of homes still lack electricity. – Seventeen percent of the buses are operational. – Half of the physicians have left, and there is a shortage of 1,000 nurses. – Six of the nine hospitals remain closed. – Sixty-six percent of public schools have reopened. – A 40 percent hike in rental rates, disproportionately affecting black and low-income families. – A 300 percent increase in the suicide rate. I don't necessarily hate Bush. I just have a strong dislike for inept liars. He just happens to fit the bill. Quote:

how much of that is a state issue BD?
I have no problem with people being pissed with bush and the feds on this. But the state level share just as much blame for the immediate aftermath and probably more for the cleanup. From another discovery show there were saying the only reason the army didn't go in a day or two earlier is blanco would allow the national guard to be put under federal control.

And how is Bush supposed to change that? Force people back into the city at gunpoint? Force doctors and nurses to move to New Orleans?

So far the President has delivered on his promise to help New Orleans recover.
Fact Sheet: President Bush Addresses the Nation on Recovery From Katrina http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/relea...0050915-7.html These facts are from September of 2005. Who would want to go back there anyway? Their crime rate is way higher than the other city of Liberalism Nivana - New York. http://neworleans.areaconnect.com/cr...New+York&s2=NY The President has never lied as bd claims. Tom

No, give me details.
What does "make the city desireable to live in again" mean? How does one man "make" a city a desireable location?

What's the saying? "Rome wasn't built in a day"? Hmmm. Probably wasn't rebuilt in a year, either, after it burned. I know we're in modern times now, but let's just think a little bit about what it takes to accomplish what you're talking about, including funding, man-power, cooperation from state and local sources, and, oh yeah, TIME. As was said, you can't force people to return, so I guess you've got to wait for things to have time to be completed. It's a big job, man. If you ask me, though, we should just let the city go, give the Mississipi River Delta back to nature. It's a horrible place for a city, anyway, and we don't really need it. Those that have already reestablished their lives elsewhere are unlikely to return, anyway.

Wait a second BD. Wasn't it you talking about the emperor? Now your upset he hasn't waved his magic emperor wand and fixed N.O.
I don't see anywhere in the constitution that gives him anything remotely like that power. http://www.law.cornell.edu/constitut....html#section2 (Archives site is down for me)
