Immigration officers arrest 326 in Houston crackdown
Associated Press Authorities have arrested 326 people in the Houston area, including some accused of murder, as part of a national crackdown on illegal immigrants. They were accused of crimes including homicide, aggravated sexual assault of minors, robbery, assault, human smuggling and narcotics trafficking. "Criminal aliens are a threat to the safety of our children, families, community and our nation," said Kenneth L. Landgrebe, field office director for Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Detention and Removal Operations office in Houston. "Our goal is to remove these threats from the United States." Thirty of those arrested were fugitive criminal immigrants with final orders of deportation, 89 were non-criminal fugitives with final orders of deportation and 17 were illegal aliens with criminal convictions. The rest were immigration violators. Immigration officials have deported 142 of those arrested to their home countries, which include Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia, India and Pakistan. The initiative, dubbed "Operation Return to Sender," targeted illegal immigrants who had received final removal orders from a federal immigration judge. It began May 26 and ended Monday.

Another example of why we don't need an Immigration Reform Bill (oxymoron intended).
I bet Big Labor and the Democrat hierarchies are hopping mad they just lost 326 constituents. Tom

Bad news for the Democrat monarchy planning to register to vote as many illegals as possible before the November elections.
They failed to steal the 2000 election so now they have a new weapon for the '06 Congressional elections - illegal immigrants. Tom

I know we have all seen the police who make busts on drugs or guns standing in front of the haul like it was a trophy. You see the cop with a table piled full of bricks of weed or coke standing behind it smiling and getting a plaque from somebody. That or there are a bunch of guns, money, stolen/illicitly gained property with the cop holding something up while his picture gets taken. Why not have a photo in the paper of the arresting officers with all the mugshots of those illegal aliens arrested below or something. To be more sensitive, simply have a picture of all those arrested while en masse in a holding cell or transport bus with their faces blurred and the officers responsible posing in the foreground?
That would be a way to show appreciation. It also states why illegal immigration enforcement will never be a priority. There is no economic incentive to do it. With drugs you burn them and are done with them. Illegal aliens drain money from incarceration, court proceedings, medical care while in custody, deportation costs, etc. Money, guns, property, cars and other things seized from drug or other busts can be auctioned off and recoup some, all, or more of the money that went into the bust. They should make it to where people who hire illegal aliens can have their property seized if it is shown they profited from the illegal labor. The easiest way though, and the hardest, is just get rid of entitlements.
