Do you deny that race plays a role in politics?

BD says "yes", but I'll say "maybe not".

Because you are in a better position to know than we are. So I'll take your word for it.

If it's a factor in Mississippi, I can't say it would surprise me.

This alleged incident took place involving a "D" from Louisiana, home of the beloved David Duke. (with an "R").

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Duke

OK, I await the very predictable "Robert Byrd response".

Brickboy has brought Byrd up countless times (I'll should go get my watch so I can set it to the response).
Byrd was done with the KKK a decade before Duke was even born.

Peace,
D.

Saying I lie does not make it so. Give an example. I know you can't.

Saying I say hateful things is a joke coming from you. I have NEVER said I hate anyone or anything. You, on the other hand, have told us the hundreds (thousands?) of things you "hate" about how America works.

D.
Ok, an example of an outright lie from you.

It appears that saying you lie about me does indeed make it true.

I wouldn't know where to start. You've told us you HATE "liberals". We don't know what your definition of a "liberal" is, but it would seem they are at least 50% to 99% of Americans by your standards.

You've told us you "HATE" unions.

You "HATE" that we have a two party system...you've made it clear you want the congress, the judiciary and the executive branches all to be 100% Republican.

You've told us how you "HATED" Clinton. And his wife.

You've told us you "HATED" Kerry (and his wife).

You've told us you "HATE" anyone that has spoken out against this wasteful war in Iraq.

You've told us you "HATE" the "cut and run coward" John Murtha. Care to compare your military record to his????

You've lied constantly about the "main stream media"...you've told us how they "celebrate the deaths of American troops". Never ONCE did you give a single example of this nonsense.

You "HATE" people from the "Blue States".

You've told us (in so many words) you "hate" the Bill of Rights. (you "love" the Patriot Act).

And on and on.

D.

Examples of where certain people have been given a pass or gone easy on because of their race? Oh jeez...where do I start? Jesse Jackson, OJ, the LA Rioters that assaulted Reginald Denny, Marion Berry, Ray Nagin...the list is endless.

Come on now, anyone from the right that says anything negative about Jefferson will somehow be called a racist. Hell, I was called a racist, just because I said I felt the media will go easy on him because he is black.

Like the illegal immigrant issue, this too will not be tried for the illegality or obstruction that goes on, but any accuser WILL be called a racist. So will anyone that suggests that they will go easy on him for this. You just proved it.

I don't think its racist to say so, either, but as usual if we cannot strip it down to one class versus another, things usually go torwards playing the racist card. You can almost set your watch to it around here.

Byrd may be done with the KKK but if memory serves when he gets "tired" he starts throwing the N-word around... but hey he's old and tired.

Why is it that literally noone on the left is rankled by Byrd's KKK past?

Ever notice that?

Mostly lies Deliga...I do hate Liberals, very much, and cowardly Democrats and other Bush-haters who use our troops for political gain.

You enjoy lying don't you Delija.....that's not the kind of fun I'm having on this forum.

Tom
OK, so we agree....you are a "hater".

As for anyone being "cowardly" and who "use our troops for political gain", you really are deranged.

In your world the people who want our troops home and safe are "cowards, unpatriotic, blah, blah, blah".....those who SENT them to Iraq for nothing BUT political gain ....who sent them on false pretenses and who are too arrogant to even listen to their own Generals...these are the people YOU admire? Rumsfeld should be in prison. Bush should be put on trial at the very least. Not because I "hate" him. But because he broke the law.

These teenagers who are accused of killing innocent Iraqis will get punished, but those who put them there, who didn't properly train them or give them the proper armored equipment will go on with their merry lives and continue to make their PROFITS.

How much longer before we start building concentration camps in Iraq?

If making an idiot of yourself is your idea of having fun, why would this surprise anyone. Go on with your "hating". Tell us who you "hate' and then tell me I am a liar if I say you "hate" ??????? As I have always maintained, you really are a moron.

Oh, to set the record straight...it was a "rhetorical question" when I asked if you wanted to compare YOUR military service to Murtha's. For you to call him a "cut and run coward" (a few hundred times") is an insult to anyone who ever wore an American service uniform. The one encouraging thing to we who served is that at least YOU never shamed the service and disgraced the uniform.

So? People of all colors and persuasions get away with things all the time. This guy Jefferson....what in the WORLD makes you believe he'll get away with anything? Seems he was caught red handed.

First off, I never said there a racist element to any of this. Who brought up race?

Maybe it was "racist" (and certainly it was "prejudiced) that the article was cut and pasted by Capt. Ray to start a thread. If the guy was a white Republican, what are the chances Ray would have brought it to anyone's attention?

I didn't see Ray posting a single word about Ken Lay last month. He probably thinks he's a hero. Same with Bernard Ebbers, etc.

Yeah, he's old and tired. And perfectly representative of the way people thought and acted in the South 60+ years ago.
Blew my mind growing up in NY and seeing legal segregation in the south when I was 11 or 12 and illegal segregation not that many years later when I went to college in the south.

You say "if memory serves"...how old are you? You remember Byrd "throwing the N-word around"? When and where?

I'm no fan of the guy, believe me. But I know if we treated all the WASPs who were born in the American south in 1915 or so as "racists", every living octogenarian south of Delaware would be considered a racist. Why? Because they were. It's how things were. Plain and simple.

They;ll all be dead soon and maybe finally America can become a nation that can put it's shameful era of slavery and government sponsored racism behind it.

BTW, have you noticed that Byrd is the exception? That the majority of the high profile old time "Dixiecrats" switched parties to become Republicans after the passing of the Civil Rights Acts? (at least Byrd signed it). Not so with Jesse Helms, Strom Thurman and the rest of that gang of merry pranksters. George Wallace decided he could be neither. After all, Lincoln was a Republican (wonder what he would be today? LOL).
