Well the media did it
I can't find it on the net yet but they came up with the cost estimites on how much we pay in Texas for illegals. 250 million in hospital care last year (all free). No report from the school system as it is against the law for them to ask if you are an illegal.

Thanks E13.
Illegals cost Texas $4.7 billion Estimate based on analysis of Census data -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted: April 12, 2005 1:00 a.m. Eastern © 2005 WorldNetDaily.com Texas' illegal immigrant population is costing the state's taxpayers more than $4.7 billion per year for education, medical care and incarceration, according to an analysis of the latest Census data by the Federation for American Immigration Reform. According to the group, even if the estimated tax contributions of illegal immigrant workers are subtracted, net outlays still amount to more than $3.7 billion per year, costing the average, native-born Texas household about $725.

Somebody explain to me how if we all of a sudden give amnesty to all these illegal immigrants and make them bona fide U.S. citizens how will this stop all the billions of bucks they are costing us....?
Is there a plan to lower minimum wage tucked into this immigration reform bill somewhere that will allow employers who have been illegally employing illegals to keep paying them the same illegal low wages that attract the illegals and the illegal employers to one another? Once all these illegals become legal they are going to start demanding the wages that any other U.S. citizen should be entitled to. Bust the employers - this problem will go away soon enough and won't require any futher legislation. bd |

bd1 It makes no sense to you because you are not a bleeping moron like most all the Democrats and Republicans in office. There is no logical way that this amnesty idea can work. The argument that they work for so much less doesn’t work once they are US citizens because they will be taxed, and have certain rights that they didn’t have as illegals; now that cases a problem for employers implying former illegals. Now they will have to pay taxes, overtime, liabilities etc, so are they going to keep the former illegal or are they going to ditch them and get a new illegal. It also causes a problem for the former illegal. They are not going to be very happy once they are getting bent over and getting screwed by the government like all us tax paying Americans. Even if all these former illegals start paying taxes, they are mainly taking low income jobs, so there is no way they will pay for all the resources they us.
bd1 it does not take a genius to see the stupidity in this amnesty idea but for some reason the politicians on both sides can understand it. Why don’t we just turn over the US to Mexico and save so much time, since that seems to be what our politicians want. We have to close the boarder and go after the employers employing illegals. Deport the criminals and figure out what to do with the rest.

Actually, the best thing we can do is make it undesirable for them to come here.
Seriously! Listen, you can put troops on the border and build walls, but as long as its easy to get employed, get free medical care, register to vote and buy houses and skirt the system - they will find a way to get around the soldiers and barbed wire. They'll fly over the barbed wire or tunnel underneath the soldiers feet (oh wait...we've already found evidence of that!). Bd is right, punishing the employers is ONE of hte many steps we need to take to make it look less desirable to come to the USA illegally. Along with taking away free medical care, anchor babies, Spanish forms and drivers licenses, etc. Also, I think we need a HUGE tax placed on all monies wired from the USA to Mexico and South America. Yep...you want to stop it...we've gotta make it look less desirable to come here, otheriwse all the barbed wire and boots on the ground won't mean sh*t. - Brickboy240 I live down here at ground zero...I ought to know!

BD,
The burden will now be placed upon employers who will be responsible for paying an honest wage and the associated taxes. the illiegals will now be paying into the system, where at least some of the money will be recouped...some but not all as they are heavy tax 'users' of public services. This will at least put everything where it should have been in the first place. I feel if they are paying taxes, then they can be citizens. OR 2 years in the military=citizenship....

The liberal agenda is a big piece of this problem puzzle and the lobbyists buying off the republicans. Both sides keep trying to change the definition for illegals to undocumented, migrants, immigrants. Deny the truth and the cost and just keep hammering they are hard working, doing jobs Americans wont do, they play an important role in society. Just keep letting the lies long and loud enough and people will believe it.
