I know that a national ID is unpopular on this site but without a national ID that is very very difficult to forge, illegals will still be hired by dishonest employers. I saw on a newscast the other night that there is a nationwide business run by one family that does nothing but SS cards, birth Certificates, etc. and that they are very difficult to spot as forgeries. The show also said that many illegals enter the country with those IDs. So it is all well and good to say that employers should be pentialized (and I agree with that) but until we have some form of national ID that is easy to check, it will do little or no good. I firmly believe that people who hire illegals know they are but use the forged documents as their "get out of jail free" card Strong border security, national ID and jail employers who hire illegals is one solution. Best solution is to get the Mexican economy up to a point where there is little incentive to come here and they have a reason to stop those from other countries using Mexico as a transit point.
