Brickboy, if the guy down the street with the boat doesn't have a SUV to pull his boat for those 3 months, what does he do, rent a truck from UHaul. The cost of the rental for those 3 months will buy a lot of gas. It also probably won't hold all of the family members and junk that he puts in the SUV.
You bring up some good points in your post, but that isn't one of them IMO. Also, if we had decided to get a RV trailer, we would have gone with another Expedition as we would have still needed the ability to tow. Would I still be condemned by you for having it because I only used it for towing occasionally instead of year round and there would usually only be 2 of us in it. We decided not to buy the RV not because of the gas price but the total price of a new RV trailer, along with insurance, registration, etc. You may disagree with me, but I honestly don't think the oil companies would make much less if everyone switched to small, high mileage cars overnight. Yeah, the mpg would increase, but everyone would now be driving more since they are getting better mileage, so the gas would still be bought and the companies would still make a fortune. If I am wrong please show me. Thanks. |
