Hydrogen is the most likely future powerplant
And should that be true it will be the last fuel the government will endorse.

Please elaborate. Are you implying that hydrogen fuel would singlehandedly bring about the downfall of the U.S.?

I might be wrong, but I think he was implying that the government would not endorse anything that would compete with or overtake the oil industry.

That makes more snese, I probably misread his meaning.
I agree, the current administration wouldn't give up our dependence on oil without a fight. I expect the first country to develop and implement alternative fuels will have a significant advantage. Hopefully we will get some leaders who realize teh importance of ending our dependence on oil.

There ya go. Lot a money flowing from the oil industry into government pockets. The gov don't want to miss out on that free ride. Bunch of stinking beggers.

Regular unleaded went up to $2.99 near me, but it is up to $3.09 in other places.

Diesel is $3.05, but is $3.19 just down the street. It went up twice in one day at one station. .20 in 2 days.

I expect $4.00 before the summer ends.

Soo...anybody have a guess as to exactly how high the price will have to go, to get everyone out of their big SUVs and large pick-ups? 4 dollars a gallon? Five, maybe?

I know peopel that have Suburbans, F-250s and Hemi Durrangos that only use these things to get them selves back and forth to work. Sommunting in a big city, this has got to be killing them in the pocketbook. 400-500 dollars a month...just for transportation to and from work? I don't know how some of them can justify that kind of expense.

Come on now...if you own a big gas burning SUV or full size truck and don't really use it for anything but getting you to work...you're gotta be re-evaluating the need for such a vehicle...right? Its really the only thing we CAN do, to thwart the prices as common people.

One thing to be said for going to more fuel effieicent vehicles is that if we, on the whole, used less gasoline, the price at the pump would fall.

I, for one, am hoping htat the rising gas prices is the death of vehicles like the Suburban, Durrango and Expedition.

I'm starting to see more and more little cars. I can't justify that kind of expense. However I only average 17mpg in my escape.

If people want to spend that much in gas let them. If I had a family I'd most likely get a bigger vehicle eventually. I'd rather get one with a diesel and have a little better effeiency/lifespan. That and I wouldn't mind a larger pickup. Can't afford it and don't need it but... would love it.
