I'll be honest, I don't really post in these political forums, though I do enjoy reading them. Often I hear (well, read) the expression of "drinking kool-aid", whether it be from the D's or the R's... but this is the first place I've ever heard that used in political discussions/arguments. Can someone fill me in on that?

It's a reference to the mass suicide of the followers of Jim Jones (they all drank poisoned KoolAid). It's a way of saying that someone has bought into the doctrine/brainwashing of the other side.
