Broken Borders...............

Broken Borders: Teddy Roosevelt's words to live by

The following is one of my favorite thoughts on the issue of immigration. It's from President Theodore Roosevelt in a letter to the American Defense Society in 1919, 10 years after his presidency.
--Lou Dobbs

"In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American...

There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
--Theodore Roosevelt, 1919

To me, Teddy Roosevelt was probably the best president this country ever saw. He was tough but fair and expected others to pull their weight. He was an educated man, but spent time in the western states, working and living off the land. He knew of both worlds. He was also a hunter and outdoorsman that proved that outdoorsmen were to lead the conservation movement, not animal rights people or greenie weenies. He set up the National Parks system and also was an expereinced soldier that led the chagre up San Juan Hill.

An fascinating man, Theodore Roosevelt was...we have not seen a president this well-rounded, since...I am afraid.

His biography "Theodore Rex" is one VERY good read...I suggest everyone read about this man and his incredible life.

I'd print a build that wall shirt but I'm afraid I don't have a CCW yet!

Of course, T.R. also started the huge government regulation of business and economics that we see now.

....yeah. That's pretty much all I've got against the man, and even that is subject to self-second doubting.

I'd've drank one with him.

Well that is ONE job Americans will do. I will take my vacation to go down, lay bricks, weld steal or what ever to make that wall. I am sure if they asked for volunteers and workers you would have many Americans to help build it.

If you take away the freebies, entitlements and jobs, you won't have to spend the money on a wall, but the PC weenies are afraid of offending those that hate us and want us to look the other way as far as illegals go, so no wall will ever be built and the game will go on and on.

What we WILL get, will be some sort of watered down legislation that is designed to soothe the natives and not piss off the latinos too much.

Sad, but thats probably what we'll get and the game will go on and on with little slow-down on the stream of illegals pouring into our country.

Let's hire the illegals to build the wall. We'll just have them build from the south so they're on the 'right' side of the wall upon completion!

one thing I love about illegal immigrants, is most of the gang members in my city.. and state actually.. are mostly illegals. A small community, Lexington Nebraska.. small rural farming community. They build a meat packing plant there, and next thing you know it's Mexington Nebraska. They now have curfews, gangs, grafitti, vandalism, theft.. it's nice how illegals come here and follow our laws so well. Oh yeah, that's right.. they don't.
