Is it possible that a militia will be required?

As I read about the continued delays in holding Iran accountable for their nuclear weapons program and today's testing of a stealth missile probably capable of reaching Israel and our troops in the middle east with multiple warheads, I thought - is it possible? Could they strike & wipe out Israel & >100,000 US troops with a quick-strike attack? And if so, could this country defend itself under a subsequent massed, organized attack from several fronts (including inside the borders from terrorist sleeper cells)?

Maybe I'm way in left field on these questions, but I just stopped dead in tracks thinking of the possibility.

Any thoughts here? Am I whacked out (about this topic, that is)?

Screw Iran, we'll need a militia in the USA if this immigration debacle does not quell down.

We need to focus on our own internal troubles before we go tearing up another 3rd world ****hole where they hate us so passionately.

Fix this and THEN we'll look at Iran...ok?

While I agree the immigration fiasco in this country is an urgent problem (which could be a separate hot post), the proposed discussion that I present on Iran is not specifically a proposal for invasion or attack on Iran. It is meant to question whether the mentioned catastrophy is not only possible, but also whether it is probable.

The Iran thing scares me. Only because I hope our intelligence on Iran and their nuclear activity is accurate. We cannot afford to be as inaccurate about Iran as we were about Iraq.

This does not mean I have any love for Saddam and his regeime...I am glad they're gone and he should have been taken out a long time ago.

What I find really alarming is that if this is possible, it would have been one heck of a clever plan for toppling the US. I can't imagine that they (our friendly Muslim nations) would have been able to scheme such an idea - 911, lure large number of troops into the Middle East, get us overextended so we'd be reluctant to stop Iran, then whipe out Israel & over 100,000 US soldiers in a blitz missile attack, then this would trigger sleeper cells to attack the US within the borders,...

Maybe I read too many books???

No invading (ground) force would ever get by the farmers and hunters of this country should something prevent our armed forces from responding.
Sleeper cells in the cities on the other hand...its hard to fight that.

The about this is, that it would be a suicide mission for them. I can guarantee you that if Israel was hit there would be retaliation. Even if sleeper cells were triggered and USA was heavily incapacitated, there would be enough command and control to push the button. Iran would literally be wiped off of the map.

If Israel is hit by a nuke, it may not be feasible for them to respond. If that's the case, I wonder whether we'd nuke Iran.

I agree that an invasion is out of the question. But a complete economic and law & order collapse does not require an invasion.

If they had nuclear warheads, the difficult part would be the delivery system, not the warheads themselves. Nuclear weapons must be detonated high above the ground to maximize their effectiveness. I expect the worst they could do is the suitcase bomb or the dirty bomb.
