I'd love to think that they WERE doing this ONLY out of the goodness of their hearts, but sorry, the science does not add up. Neither do the reactions and predictions of those that DO work in this industry.
I mean...we're all sittimg here scratching our collective heads and thinking: "surely they are NOT this stupid." What are we to think...other than the idea that they are doing this on purpose? Then, you throw in the fact that there is no large capacity "clean" alternative that is anywhere near ready to replace oil and coal. Right now, there is no electric car to buy and many big players are getting out of the wind business. GE stands to be the only one to win from all this. Is there any other reason why Jeffery Immelt (CEO of GE) has visited Obama at the White House so many times since his inaguration? Not only are there no alternatives close to being ready to replace oil and gas, but this administration has not put forth any plans for doing so. Which leads me to believe that they don't have any. Throw in the TIMING of this as well: smack dab in the middle of a huge economic crisis. Could there BE a worse time to even try to impliment such a plan? I doubt it. These people are NOT that stupid. True, I might not agree with their reasoning on almost everything but they are not this stupid. Couple this with the lack of transparency and behavior we have seen form them on healthcare....and yes...I have no other choice but to believe that they are doing this to purposefully control the energy market and force the oil and coal industries to their end. If you think I am crazy and have ANY logical explanations as to their wishes with cap and trade...please let me know. At the very least...they just hate the oil and coal industries, want them gone and don't care what unforseen hardships come from cap and trade. I hate to say it, but they might be that blinded by green ideaology and they might just be that selfish. But all tinfoil hattery aside...yes...I believe cap and trade is based on control...not cleaning up the air or stopping global warming. - brickboy240

if people wanted solar and wind power, it wouldve been in the marketplace already. The reason why its not here now is its too damn expensive compared to what we have now.

If solar and wind were VIABLE and COMPETITIVE with fossil fuels...then we'd see them take over. We would see them phased in and taking over all on their own because they compete with the technology of the day and are viable ... AND ... people want them.
Until then...find me an economist that agrees that forcing an unproven and new technology forewards while ditching the old is a good plan. - brickboy240

I can't see how the crap and slave legislation is not about control, it is just disguised very nicely to be about "concern for the environment". We are seeing the government exert more control daily over the private sector and they are leaving no stone unturned. I can't see how anyone could look at this legislation and everything else going on and not see that they are trying to increase government size, regulation, power, etc.

What did you think you were getting with dems in control of congress and the WH? Not that McCain would've been much better.

Thats always my question to the Obama voters.
They pay taxes, buy gasoline and have utility bills, too. What is it, exactly, that they find valuable in voting for this guy that cancels out having to pay more for these items in this already stressed economic times? I would venture to guess that many I saw waiving their Obama signs at his inaguration day speech, would NOT be too cool with doubling their electric bill or paying 6-8 bucks a gallon to fill up their cars. However, thats exactly what they voted for. I understand that McCain was not inspiring in the least and many conservatives like me were tired of Bush as well, but jeez...you don't go from bad to worse only for the sake of change or making some sort of statement. Hell, I am all for change...but not THAT kind of change. Yes, I would like to know what exactly inspired the Obama-bots to vote as they did. I can tell you one thing about all Obama voters: they are NOT going to like living in the world that their chosen leader and his ilk will give us...not at all. - brickboy240

I don't see how it could be moot. If the crap and slave fails, then the same level of control will be authored in another legislative piece of crap under the guise of saving something else. Do you really think that they will be stopped with just this bill and abandon their goals?
