The End of Dollar Hegemony by Rep. Ron Paul

This guy is a congressman from Texas who is dead
on the money explaining the way we got to where we
are. The article is long but well worth the read. It explains
a lot of things lots of folks don't know and explains why
we will soon have a lot bigger mess in the mideast than
we presently have. Try to read it through even though
some parts may bog you down. There is not much we
can do about the way things are going.

HON. RON PAUL OF TEXAS

Before the U.S. House of Representatives

February 15, 2006

Yep, we love Ron Paul.

If there is anyone in politics today that will tell you the truth - it is this man.

It's simply amazing how so many downplay the words he states and call him various names with no regard to the message he delivers.

Lol... it is b/c of the message he delivers, with all of it's factual inaccuracies and distortions, that people 'call him various names"... it is the message, that's what you don't understand. Ideas have consequences, and Paul's ideas, undergird by wrong 'facts' have failed and will fail. In addition, he never proposes how to implement his plans, he just rants. Who would trust a politican who simply demagogues all the time and is hypocritical in his votes versus his actions?

That's what most of us are tired of in politicians....

Can we say....I Told You So!

Yea, and I made this particular post
well over two years ago.

I'll have to say that we are right on
target according to Ron Paul's predic-
tion.

I do not care what the feds do with the
interest rates, assume home mortgages,
print up more money which is not backed
by gold or silver, pass out stimulus checks,
buy up dairy farmers excess production to
make into commodities (cheese and powdered
milk), pay farmers to not grow wheat, corn,
soy beans, etc. We are going to be paying
for all these mistakes via our children and
grandchildren.

What a fiasco!!....continued

That's exactly why I brought it to the front. IMO, he is still on track when it comes to our fiscal problems

Several things:

What predictions?? I read it and didn't see any that struck me as particularly predictative...

But paul has made predictions - since the late 1970's... look at his track record, it's horrible. Folks who followed his advice in the 80's lost most everything.

His facts in his rant are simply non-existant.... money managers thru the gov't made a deal to protect oil nations from unrest and overthrow... lol. That's asinine and just didn't happen. You can look at the turmoil in the gov't of those countries for proof. Hell, we FORCED a great allie to allow himself to be removed by frorces that hate us - does the Ayatollah Khomenini ring a bell??? Paul just makes stuff up as he goes...

Third, we had inflation and devalution on the gold standard. Look it up.

Gold hasn't kept pace with inflation, even with the recent run up... it would have to be approximately 3 to 5,000 per oz. It is and has been a horrible investment and hasn't kept track with any inflation index. Paul completely ignores that.

The dollar is backed by gold - you can take it and exchange it for gold - as much as you want. This argument of 'backing' the dollar is ridiculous, it is simply a medium of exchange, the real value is in the exchange of goods and services - your time for food and clothes. By this true value standard, we've greatly progressed over the past 75 years - since getting off a strict gold standard - our lives have improved. What more do you really want or can you ask of monentary policy?

We could go back to gold... and you'd be back to making .50 to $1 a day and having' a hard time buying food and clothes - as most of our great-grandparents did.

No thanks.
